Latoya was good but boring. J Hud was good but gave a few really bad performances. I liked George. Amy Adams was good and was booted before she deserved to be.
Diana may not have been the best performer, but she easily had the best voice that season. Her overly cutesy antics like high fiving the audience did get
annoying, but vocally she was miles better than Fantasia. Had Fantasia not been pimped as "zomg the best person we've ever had on AI!!!" by the
judges so much and had they not masturbated over every one of her performances I may not hate her as much.

8trackmind wrote: Thanks for this. I think I agree with most of what you said about what were everybody's worst performances. Jordin and Archie were definitely terrible, but they didn't make my skin crawl the way Diana's performance did. Diana made me want to hit her in the face with a shovel. Clearly that is just MY reaction, but it was a strong one... I've left out one contestant, because I think she, and not Diana, had the worst performance by anybody in the finale that I liked at all (i.e. excluding Mantasia and Blake). It's Katherine McPhee's tuneless screech of a Christina Aguilara song (title mercifully forgotten) which rightly put her into the bottom 2 on season 5's disasterous top 10 night. She was wearing a silly combination lesbian/equestrian outfit, if that helps jog anybody's memory. I loved Katherine a lot of the time, but that night she was truly awful. LOL! I have to admit that I have very few specific memories of Season 5. All I know is that I was pissed off from beginning to end over the overpraise of singers I couldn't stand and the absolute travesty of the fact that Bucky was never given his due... That season started off well, getting rid of my least favorites (Melissa, Chicken Little, Lisa Tucker, Mandisa), but lo and behold, by the time they were all gone, I'd come to hate most of the others (Taylor, Elliott, Daughtry, even Kathryn whom I originally liked) every bit as much. I was "meh" on Pickler and Ace as people, but I thought they both sucked. Paris was talented, but SOOO not ready. Bucky was the only redeeming thing about that whole season for me. |

Well shit we can't help it if you're so fucking picky that you hate everyone.

If you hated Melissa, Chicken Little, Lisa Tucker, Mandisa, Katharine, Taylor, Elliott and Daughtry that leaves very few S5 people that you did like. So you
liked Ace, Paris and Hickler aside from the aforementioned Bucky?
If that's the case I don't see why you're complaining about someone like Diana. |

lulz @ people getting into debates with Drew. It's like sending a deaf person to an INXS concert, nothing will come of it and you'll be fustrated you
even tried.
Drew is ONE OF A KIND. :) |

Not that I want to enable GJ, but Season 3 was meticulously set up to have a black female winner. The deck was stacked with them. Everybody else who was
dumped into that Final 12 was to be nothing other than cannon fodder. No Caucasians, Latinos, Asians, Aliens with real talent were allowed anywhere near the
semi-finals. What? And pose a threat to predetermined TCO black female winner? He only liked the black people from that season? Well, good. Same here. Not
Mantasia, because of course she's disgusting. And because they shoved her down our throats with a force not even Blonde Fatty With Matt Sign is capable of.
And because they trotted out her bastard crotchfruit in a sickening attempt to get votes. And fiddled with the results on the numerous nights she was surely
the lowest vote getter. But she could at least sing with emotion -- such as it was.

Preferring the black singers in Season 3 (even Blah-Toya, as stultifyingly dull as she may have been) is not racist - it just makes sense. The black people (I'm including George) were talented. The others, not so much... |

Anyone who doesn't think Diana is talented is deaf and/or retarded. Not liking her is one thing and even thinking "I'm Still Standing" is a
crime against humanity is okay but to deny that she was vocally talented is a little absurd.

You're right. She had some very good vocals and had (I assume still has) a fantastic voice. Her glossy insincerity kept me from ever thinking she was a
particularly good performer, but I agree she's got a lot of raw talent.

Well she was was 16. As much as I'm sure we'd all prefer if all ZOMG 16!!111 year old were as mature and un-precocious as Allison I don't think you
can really fault a 16 year old for being that young and immature. I will admit at the time I liked Diana I was 13/14 years old so the personality issues she
may have had being young didn't really phase me.

I had to think who you were talking about then I remembered.
Fake joybot Degarmo had strong vocals but she was just plain annoying, which I don't think Allison is. |

Neither do I (think Allison is annoying) but at this point it's a completely different frame of reference for me. I didn't find Diana annoying circa
AI3 but then again I was 13/14 at that point.

Diana was a GREAT contestant. I liked the confidence of going to Hawaii to try out instead of her hometown. That took a pair. Whether she could've won
or not we will never know because the final 2 was so rigged. That communal song was written just for Fantasia and that really wasn't a fair competition.
She gets no slack but 2 seasons later we are reminded about Lisa being 15 every single week and then Jordin Sparks being 17 every week. Diana never got any slack. |

Huh? Diana didn't get any slack?
Diana was pimped as a forerunner early on with her performances of Think and what not during the early rounds. Her age was also brought up every week. The attention is focused on the three Black divas, true, but you can't say Diana was screwed. She is the Fantasia of the "young singers" Jasmine/Diana/Leah tirumvirate. And the final song is not as "rigged" as the ultimate rigged final song ever: A Moment Like This in S1. Poor Justin. |
