He is decent, but not good enough to be the lead and/or be the guy they are all surprised he is "So good". He is just OK...his voice is just not powerful enough for me. I would totally download DSB, but it just isn't strong enough for me to want to own it. Its two differnet types of voices. Broadway vs Boy Band. Its that nasal/straining thing that Justin Timberlake, Backstreeet Boys, New Kids, Jonas have. Boys trying to sing too high and straining. I call it the "crush the nuts" sound. After that, it was just brilliant. My favourite line of the entire show (and there were many, thanks to Jane Lynch <3) had to be when Quinn comes up to Finn and Rachel and goes "Hey Finn, (turns to Rachel)...RuPaul."

Glee club was a big deal at my highschool - lots of big buff guys in it where also jocks. They put on an amazing musical every other year. Also, why do TV shows always have such stereotyped highschool roles? Maybe my town was different, but it just wasn't so divided. Sure, there were clicks but no strict definitions like on T.V. I agree the football / jock guy's voice wansn't all that impressive - not bad - but it did disappear in the duets. I guess he otherwise fits the part. Love the "Cheerio" coach.

(I've watched this three times, and I still can't remember the names right now) The lead girl has been performing and practicing her whole life, so she should be perfect as she is. The lead guy has only ever really sang along to the radio and in the shower, so he shouldn't be that good. Teacher wanted a popular male even more than he wanted a great male singer. He ended up with a popular male with a passable voice. Plus he's sort of adorably awkward, especially during DSB when he's dancing. As the actor trains on the show in both voice and dance, I think we'll see a real life improvement which will perfectly compliment the character's progression on the show. ETA: Sue, I think your High School might have been a bit unique. Maybe not. Others should weigh in on this. There was an absolute caste system at my high school. He ended up with a popular male with a passable voice. Good point! I just felt that when they heard him singing they were all like "WOW, he's GREAT!", which I didn't get. Not a big deal, but that was the only thing I didn't get/like about the show. I liked him as a character/actor, just not his singing. But that's a great point SI. Someone said the show wasn't realistic, but who cares...it is not meant to be. Overall, fantastic show!

If it sounds as if the Fox promotional machine is in overdrive, consider that each episode costs at least $3 million to produce. This scares me.

I have a very vivid memory of an episode where the school put on 'The Wizard of Oz'. They released the first season on DVD and then stopped several years ago. Ever since, I've tried to find it. Well, I was bored and had nothing to watch during lunch at home today, so I watched the first 20 minutes. I liked it, but still wasn't sure. During dinner, I opted for this instead of Oprah just to see if maybe I'd really like it. I freakin' LOVED it. And I also teared up a bit during DSB at the end (as someone else already posted). It was just weirdly touching and amazing or something. I can't describe it. So, I got on here and read all 15 pages, and now I'm CRUSHED that it's not back on again until the fall. Love you bitches <333
