It took me a while to come up with more than 2 I could even remember well (yet I can still remember Michael Johns' performance on Dolly Parton week and some David, David and Jason stuff from last season; not to mention so much from the first 6 seasons). Adam - Mad World (though Gary Jules is better) and Track of My +%$#% Allison - I Can't Make You Love Me Anoop - Always on my Mind and True Colors Kris - To Make You Feel My Love Matt - So Small and the first half of Who's Lovin' You (mostly I didn't expect it) before he went crazy riffing on it

Falling Slowly Kris Allen (9th) Alexis was screwed Jolene was really good, I was 50/50 on Anoop songs because he was decent on a number of them but I remember his True Colours the most. Kris Allen takes the 17th and 16th spots for the well sung choices 15. Mad World Adam Lambert (8th) 14. My Funny Valentine Matt Girard 13. Walking after Midnight Megan joy (7th) 12. Papa was a Rollin' Stone Alision Iraheta (6th) 11. Slow Ride Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert I wasn't in love with Mad World as much as other people, I think like Falling Slowly it was a great choice but I don't think I will listen to it again. Matt Giraurd makes his one and only showing on my countdown and had he not sung that song that well he would go down for me as one of the worst contestants ever. 10. She Works Hard for the Money Kris Allen 09. Make you feel my love Kris Allen (5th) 08. Heartless Kris Allen 07. Alone Alision Iraheta (4th) 06. Tracks of my T.ears Adam Lambert (3rd) This is the highest I go for Kris Allen, and Adam Lambert not really impressive for finalists but for Kris he has 5 songs in my top 20 which is amazing.... but Adam has a higher ranking. At this point Adam and Allsion are tied for second place with Kris for most songs in my countdown. 05. Hot Stuff Allison Iraheta And now Allison takes the lead... and oh yeah 2 disco songs in the top 10, that has never and dare I say never will happen again. 04. Bette Davis Eyes Jesse Langesth (2nd) <sigh> I miss her sooooo much 03. Someone to watch over me Allison Iraheta And now Allison and Kris are tied for five songs a piece, I think this will be the song that I listen to every month or so. So now we have two spots left 02. Saving all my love for you Tatiana Del Toro (1st) 01. Cry Baby Allison Iraheta Funny how they were both sung twice, but Allison inches ahead of Tatiana because she actually improved on her second time singing the song. It really is a crime the judges didn't put her in the Top 12. I have no doubt she'd have made the Top 5, especially when I consider her "competition". Could she have outlasted Anoop? Matt? Lil?! No doubt.

Posts: 236 (05/15/09 11:23 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	With only one week left, Spoiler [+] where all six performances will leave something to be desired due to poor song choices (Simon F's part), songs (crappy winner's song) and lack of originality (reprises) I think the best performances of Season 8 have probably already been given. So, here's my Top 5: 5. "Heartless" - Kris Allen: Original and current, huge risk and a "game changing" performance when it was most needed. 4. "Cry Baby" (Exit Performance) - Allison Iraheta: Slezak said it best when he said it was like watching her victory performance. Only reason it isn't #1 is because it was on a results night 3. "Tracks of My T.ears" - Adam Lambert: First time he broke out the sensitive side. I'm probably alone in thinking it was better than Mad World, but I loved it. 2. "Someone To Watch Over Me" - Allison Iraheta: Ridiculous emotional maturity, she knows how to connect with a song. Loved the phrasing and raw passion of the song 1. "Falling Slowly" - Kris Allen: Brilliant song choice, brilliant delivery. Absolutely stunning, heartfelt vocal. If I were to make a top 10 or top 15 even, these 3 would most likely hold 90% of the performances. I'll give props to Anoop's "Always On My Mind" and "Angel of Mine", Matt's "So Small" and a few of the wildcard performers (Langseth, Barton, Braddy, Henson). But all of those performances just seemed like really good karaoke to a certain extent. ETA: For the record, I hadn't really heard Falling Slowly before (I mean, I watch the Oscars so I recognized it immediately and knew it'd be a great fit for Kris, but that's about it), so take that with a grain of salt. It IS true that guys like him are a dime a dozen in coffee houses around the country. I LOVE To Make You Feel My Love... AND it is nearly identical to and outshone by Joan Osbourne's version. I could only imagine people gasming over Falling Slowly if they had not heard the original... Kris's version was way too uninspired, similar to but way beneath the original. He became my favo for the whole season after it, and that along with Heartless and some of Alison's performances would top it for me. I had also not heard the original Falling Slowly.
