The winners:

Maggie: I go back and forth on her. She was more of a leader than a strategist, I think. I never saw her talk strategy, and I think she was more focused on getting her team with her as captain to the finish line than the finesse part of the game. Either that, or she's in denial about how manipulative she is. I guess what I will say is that she effectively played April and Ivette off of one another, and kept everyone loyal to the idea of their alliance. Had Maggie left a bit earlier, no doubt in my mind that April or Ivette might have considered letting Janelle carry her to the end and beat her. I don't think she played a phenomenal social game... not as good as April's, at any rate, but at least Ivette was willing to pay $450,000 to be a bitch to Rachel in her farewell message, and therefore Maggie got the swing vote from Howie. If Janelle had more influence over Howie than Rachel, Ivette would have won, not Maggie. Pure and simple. Even Howie admits this and regrets his vote now.

Drew: He's Big Brother's answer to Ethan. He didn't do a hell of a lot other than be in a really good position. Turns out, he was always the lesser evil (compared to Scott and Jase, and then compared to the twins) and skated through because there were always bigger fish to fry. His nominations were typically dumber than Janelle's. The big "counteralliance" to him consisted of Will and Karen, who threw competitions like it was their job, plus the admittedly tough Nakomis. Drew won because he played Cowboy and Diane against one another effectively, because both would rather lose to him than face one another and have a shot, and because they were able to stop Nakomis from making a challenge run into the final, because she was the only one who would have voted him out. Diane did most of his strategizing for him, plus took all the blame from the jury. (Diane would have lost the jury vote in a landslide, no matter WHO she faced. Possibly against Cowboy she might have squeaked out a 4-3 decision.) I also think that booting Diane was a STUPID move, because the entire jury loathed her, and it would have been Lisa vs. Danielle all over again... she'd have gotten a vote from Nakomis, and MAYBE from Will if she were lucky, and Drew would have swept the rest. As it is, if Diane had a bit more pride and vindictiveness, Cowboy could have won the whole damned thing. And that scares me.

Jun: She played both sides down the middle and played the floater to perfection, and managed to figure out that Alison was the most hated and cut a final two deal with her. A pity that we had just seen Vecepia Towery win Survivor the same way the year before, or else it would have seemed revolutionary. Unfortunately, her win mostly hinged on the fact that the jury found her somewhat less appalling than Alison, and had nothing to do with her gameplay. Whatever, season 4 sucked anyway.

Lisa: Part of me thinks she played well, and part of me thinks that Roddy and Marcellas got the jury so stirred up against Danielle that the only thing Lisa needed to be able to beat her was a pulse. I think she played the social game well, but benefited from Danielle's gloating and the jury hivemind towards wanting to punish her. I wonder if Danni Boatwright over on Survivor:Guatemala consciously imitated her or it was inadvertent? The endgame of those two seasons are frighteningly similar.

Will: He was consistent... consistently amoral. Nicole got greedy at the end... never before or since have I seen such a phenomenal, dominating player completely implode on any reality show like she did.

The best of the rest, in no particular order:

Danielle: the first time through, she didn't get the "make the jury like you" thing AT ALL and lost in the biggest landslide in reality television history.

Jason: he had the perfect alliance, and a patsy to take the blame for him... the only mistake he made was one out of his control, that he didn't win the final HOH.

Janelle: The first time through, she proved that she doesn't give up and clawed her way to the end of the game. Despite her challenge studliness the second time through, it's clear that she doesn't get the social aspect of the game AT ALL. Perhaps because last season, everyone not in her alliance hated her, and any social game she played was for naught.

April: This one is going to be controversial, but I think of the Friendship, she alone understood she needed to put people on the jury thinking she was the lesser of two evils. She wasn't as hopeless at competitions as she was viewed, either... she held her own in memory-based competitions and won a physical veto as well.

Nakomis: phenomenally smart, but everyone had their loyalty to Drew, and she never had the opportunity to get rid of him. I think the best move made in All-Stars was getting her out early, because she was the one who could best have kept up with Janelle in competitions.

Nicole: For the first half of the season, she was as good as any player we have ever seen. She and Hardy got power-hungry, and let Will slip through the cracks, though... and then she wigged out, and it was all downhill from there.

Hardy: A dominant competitor, and he and Nicole RULED the house for most of the season. They let that get to their head, but no duo in the house before or since has been as dominant in controlling the house for most of the season. Maybe Jason and Danielle, possibly Jun and Alison at the end.

Roddy: Didn't make it that far, but better at the mindgames and manipulation than anyone aside from Will and perhaps Maggie.

Overrated: Kaysar, Diane, Marcellas, Alison.
