I was wondering that too. And two two-hour penalties. Seems kind of excessive to me.
Phil was staring DAGGERS at the stuntmen too. He was treating them like misbehaving children. Very un-Phil like. He must really hate their guts. |

Phil's obviously got a huge bias - he has to talk to these people and follow their journey, and their likeability and entertainment value affects the performance of the show and his job safety. He doesn't twist the rules around to suit who he likes though, that's just nuts (but neither does Probst) The reason he gets away with it more than Probst: a) We see every time Jeff talks to the contestants; we only see a few minutes of Phil talking to the contestants (even the Mat Chat videos at their most are less than 1/5 of the full conversation time) b) Jeff openly has the balls to blog about his favourites, while Phil's blog is mundane "wow, look at this leg, wasn't it great?!" page-wasting c) Sucks' TAR favourites are more in line with the public consensus than Sucks' Survivor favourites, so when he is biased people aren't as mad. Him loving Charla/Mirna and the Chas doesn't piss off Sucksters like Probst's love of Rupert and Terry d) Phil's bias can't affect the game at all; Jeff's potentially can (but rarely if ever does). He's still capable of being just as lame as Probst, if not worse. In one of the Insiders, Jaime/Cara try and be tactful about the Tweedles and their strategy "They all have different strengths, the Tweedles are very..." "Small?" 
I can't imagine him responding: "Luke is very...", "Deaf" |

I'd venture to guess we see a much larger percentage of Phil's conversations than we do Probst's. But it's just a guess. How you're so certain, I can't see.My point was that we always see every time Probst talks to the contestants, not that we see every line of dialogue because that's obviously never true - in terms of a percentage of seen vs. unseen stuff, we definitely see a greater percentage of Probst's interactions vs. Phil's (since he talks to every team up to 45 minutes every pitstop and at most we see 5 in an insider video). And I said Probst has influenced people, but that'd be true with any host, it's impossible to be 100% impartial in a show about relationships. Even Solitary's host shows biases and it's a computer. And Phil has obviously influenced other racers' opinions too (e.g. this leg telling Jaime/Cara what Mark/Michael call them) - and since he talks to them individually, which Probst never does, he can do it even more easily - look at how he talks "are you going to use the Yield/U-Turn? Why not?" etc. And camera-crew/producers/etc have had more of a profound impact on the results of TAR than they've been known to on Survivor. |
