We saw the young Emily in the hospital after giving birth to John. Remember? She didn't want to hold the baby.. Richard showed up, etc. Ben's mother looked totally different. She went into early labor (in the woods) and died during childbirth. Locke is older than Ben, right? So you're saying red Emily gave birth to John, then totally different looking Emily gave birth to Ben (and died!), then older crazy red Emily found Locke later on - but they have the same mother?!
My point is we SAW both Emilys pregnant and around the time of each birth. Yes I know the characters would be played by different actresses on purpose so we wouldn't know for sure that B&L had the same mother. Anything's possible. But why bother making sure Locke's mother looked the same as a teen and as an adult? Emily Locke came clean with John.. she was fruity but I don't think she was lying about being his mother.
If Locke and Ben are brothers, it would be more likely because they have the same father, NOT the same mother. The writers were screwing with us giving them the same name imo.
I'm not buying it either way. I think the whole parent issue thing with Ben and Locke is kinda over now. I can't see a point in making them brothers with so little time left in this series.

Tom was the name of Kates BF right? I don't recall anyone named Sam tbh. But good observation. With the exception of Charles/Charlie though, they're all insignificant (Charlotte being on the fence IMO).

Tom - Kate's childhood sweetheart. Thomas - Aaron's daddy. Tom - Big Tom/Zeke. The alias Ana Lucia chose for Christian when they went to Australia together.
Sam - Sam Austen/Kate's stepfather. Sam Toomey - the numbers guy in the mental institution with Hurley.
David/Dave - Hurley's imaginary friend. Desmond's middle name. Libby's husband's name. Also a character in one of Sawyer's FBs.
Also two Charlottes, three Charles/Charlies.
I don't think there's any significance to character names being repeated. The name Emily might be insignificant, too. Significant only in that we're still talking about it? :)

I may be eating my words later on, but it wouldn't be the first time. It's also not the first time we've had the Emily discussions.. more like the 50th.
