Posts: 183 (04/06/09 6:41 PM) Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	I've never seen a discussion over it (which means nothing, but whatevs), but did anyone else ever notice how both Ben and Locke's mothers each shouted, right after birth, "Call him [name]!" For Ben's mom, it was to the dad as he took baby Ben and ran through the forest to get someone to help, and for Locke's mom, I think it was right after birth (can't recall exactly) when the nurse was taking him away, although she saw him again later in the nursery room. (I might be off about that.) Dunno if it has any significance in any way, but I thought it was interesting... and they both got the names their moms seemed so adamant about.

You're right...I've heard that speculation tons of times but I never realized what you just pointed out: That's the ONLY hiccup in that explanation. It can be explained away pretty easily: The apparent story was: Locke's mother tracks him down...Tells him to go meet his father....Cooper befriends Locke...Cooper steals his kidney. It never made sense that Lockes mother and father were all of a sudden communicating with each other (after they hadn't spoken in 50 years) then all of a sudden, she disappears. (Which begs the off-topic question: Why didn't Locke ever wonder where his mother went after she tracked him down in the grocery store?) It would make more sense that Moneybags Cooper payed some woman with red hair to pretend to be Emily. I just looked it up; that episode is the only one that the actress was in. Wasn't that woman locked up in a nut house for schizophrenia? Sounds like easy pickings for the original Sawyer... Considering all the names they could of chosen for either character, why the name Emily for Ben's mom when they already had one mom named Emily? Not to mention that "Man behind the curtain" was bencentric (we see Emily) and the first journey to see Jacob. Cabin Fever was the next episode where Locke and Ben were trying to find Jacob (also featuring a young Emily Locke) which was Lockecentric. It's possible... I'm not jumping on either bandwagon, but it's very possible.

There was some book that Locke gave Ben while he was in captivity that I thought had something to do with brothers too.

According to wiki... The book portrays a patricide in which each of the murdered man's sons share a varying degree of complicity. On a deeper level, it is a spiritual drama of moral struggles concerning faith, doubt, reason, free will and modern Russia. I tried searching Lostpedia and couldn't find the episode. But the first episode description I looked at (Deus Ex Machina) describes the opening scene where Locke is explaining MouseTrap to the little boy and saying it is a game he used to play with his brother, lol.

Swoosie Kurtz played Emily Locke and the actress who played her as young Emily was a dead ringer for older Emily. What would be the point in having Emily Linus (we saw her giving birth.. well not really, but ykwim) played by a blondish hippie chick, and Emily Locke played by a redhead as younger and older Emily? It's possible Ben and Locke have the same father. Maybe that's why Roger was such a shit - because he wasn't Ben's real father. But Ben and Locke don't have the same mother. I don't think they're brothers though. Period. jmo. Considering all the names they could of chosen for either character, why the name Emily for Ben's mom when they already had one mom named Emily? The names Tom, David/Dave, Sam, Charlotte, Charles/Charlie, and Brian have been given to more than one character.
