Phillip & Jeanine - Hip-Hop - Napoleon & Tabitha
This was the "softer" hip-hop number, a la No Air or Bleeding Love. The theme was something to do with love and how you should never go to bed angry. They started and ended laying on the floor, "sleeping" or whatever. I thought this was good, and the judges really liked it. They complimented Jeanine on being able to keep up with Philip and thought the pair had good chemistry.

Vitolio & Asuka - Broadway - Tyce
It was basically about them making a silent movie - Vitolio was the director and Asuka was the actress. It was kind of vaudville, but part of the dance had elements of popping and "ballroom" in it. IDK, it was more enjoyable than a lot of the Broadway numbers in the past, and the judges complimented them on their dancing, but they wanted Vitolio & Asuka to show more of their personality, because there were such strong characters in the dance or something

Jonathan & Karla - Cha-Cha - Poker Face by Lady Gaga- Tony Meredith (not Louis Van Amstel)
A somewhat odd music choice, but I thought it worked. IDK I don't have much to say about this, but it was really good.

Evan & Randi - Jazz - Tyce
This was REALLY good. The judges called it one of Tyce's best dances ever, and I'm inclined to agree. It may come across different on TV (and I was on the side, so I didn't see them straight-on), but I'd honestly put it up there with...at least Apologize, if not Why. I don't remember if there was a strict theme to it, but basically it was about them being in love (as is a lot of them). There was joking about Randi's husband in the opening package, as the dance had a lot of like sensual stuff that required them to really connect, and I definitely thought they pulled it off.

Tony & Paris - Hip-Hop - Napoleon & Tabitha
Ugh, Tony. As was predicted, he's definitely the tween/teen girl favorite, at least from what I could tell. This was the harder-hitting hip hop, and the judges weren't totally impressed. They said it was just good, forgettable, and that since there wasn't really a story to it, the dancers should have been more hard-hitting. Adam called the costumes distracting.

Jason & Caitlin - Bollywood - Jai Ho
This one was also really good. Very high energy, with complicated dancing that was done very well. I definitely liked it better than Katee and Joshua's Bollywood, and the judges complimented both dancers pretty equally.

Brandon & Janette - Foxtrot - Fly With Me - Louis Van Amstel
This started out kinda boring in the beginning, but there were some really good lifts and I ended up liking it, as did the judges. Their commentary went on for a long time, so I'm sure some of it will get cut.

Kupono & Ashley - Wade - Jazz
As is typical of a Wade piece, it was kind of weird. They were crash test dummies, all dressed in white, with their faces and hair painted white. I don't think it was necessarily one of my favorite Wade pieces, but Kupono is my favorite so far, and I thought he and Ashley made a really good pair. The dancing was excellent, and the judges complimented them both on that and how well they brought people into the "world" of the dance.

Ade & Melissa - Contemporary - Mandy Moore
I liked this one a lot too. Apparently it was about how it is when you're first falling in love with someone, and it was really sweet and well-done. Ade was dressed in all white, with his shirt open, and Melissa was wearing a chiffony blue dress with her hair in curls. Adam called it "special" (meaning that in a good way), and seemed to be especially touched by it. The judges complimented Melissa, saying that her age may actually have been an advantage, and that she probably wouldn't have been able to dance that well when she was 21.

Max & Kayla - Samba - Louis Van Amstel - IDK the music, but it was instrumental and appropriate.
All I have to say is WOW. IMO it was probably the best samba ever on the show. I know some people expressed concern about Max and Kayla being paired up, but I thought they were amazing. Kayla was wearing a really great bright electric pink fringy dress and she definitely held her own with Max. The judges and I were really impressed, both by her, and by the performance as a whole. There were lots of amazing moves, including samba rolls (which I know everyone here loves) that were actually done well, and there was this part I loved where Kayla was like kneeling on Max's legs, that I can't really explain, but was awesome. Both dancers were actually complimented somewhat evenly, although Nigel criticized Max a little bit, saying that he needed to be tighter with some of his moves and name-dropping Dmitry and Pasha (both of whom were there, and the latter of which I saw from like three feet away!). Mary mentioned "the train" a couple of times during the show, to Jonathan & Karla and Kupono & Ashley, but this was the first dance of the season that she said was on the Hot Tamale Train.
