Doesn't Asuka have years of ballet training? And isn't Karla part of some dance crew (even if her crew sucked, her level of hip-hop talent should be more than enough for the show)?

They should surprise the judges during their next solos and try something new. Yes, it backfired with Jaymz, but it worked with...I'll have to think about that one.

But I really hope that A/V pull themselves out of the bottom next week (which should happen if they get ballroom or contemporary, and the other partner adapts quickly). Either that, or more couples bomb, which might happen. I think we will see a huge dip in quality next week, because this week seemed to be set up so that at least one person (or both) we're doing something very close to there style, and that more than likely will not happen again for some of them.

Yes, but you can't argue that part of the reason this top 20 preformance was so good was most likely due to the fact that so many people had there own styles (and the choreographers did a mostly good job). Evan/Randi, Kupono/Ashley and Melissa/Ade had three of the best routines of the evening.

Also, the "revelations" usually occur when the style is new to only one of the dancers (like with Kayla this week). I'm trying to think of a really amazing routine where the style was completely foreign to both dancers (Bollywood doesn't count). What are your favorites routines anyway, Drew?

Regardless of what they get, I hope A/V do well, and get a very dynamic and challenging routine whose choreography can engage the audience. But I feel that if they get contemporary, people will be shocked, because despite Asuka saying she had training, people see her as a ballroom dancer. Same as Janette, who has videos of her on youtube doing very lyrical solos. They aren't amazing or anything, but the fact that she said she was barely trained in salsa (which people read as barely trained at all) means people will see her being good at lyrical/contemporary routines as a "revelation."

True, you can't, and I hope I'm proven wrong, since that just means more great dances for me to watch. We'll see next week. I have a feeling that couples like Melissa and Ade, and dancers like Ashley, could potentially go home very soon, despite doing so well this week.
