I just hope Eowyn isn't ranked under Arwen, as Eowyn pawns Arwen both in the books and movies. :P

Eowyn was definitely the coolest woman in the movie (and the book). I was disappointed with Galdriel in the movie version of LoTR. Galadriel was supposed to
be the most beautiful woman in all of Middle Earth, and while Cate Blanchett is pretty, she wasn't even the most beautiful woman in the movie.

16. Boromir
When I first watched the Fellowship of the Ring, I hated Boromir. He was a jealous $!$% who felt threatened by Aragorn. And he wanted to take the ring and use it for his own selfish, power hungry reasons. I was glad when he died. But upon a second watching, I liked him more. He seems like one of those tough guys (see Sawyer from Lost) who is tough for a reason - because his past was fucked up and he went through hard times. He has good intentions at heart. And he died protecting the hobbits from orcs, which is admirable. His family sucks, but he's all right. 15. Bilbo Baggins
Bilbo's a good character but he's kind of pathetic. He was under the Ring's power for a long, long time and became addicted to it, almost like a drug. Even though he knew it was best for him, he still had a hard time leaving the Ring behind when he left the Shire. When he was an old ass man and on his deathbed, he still wanted the Ring. Dude, get over it. Overall Bilbo just seemed like a really selfish character who only cared about himself and the Ring. I do like his adventurous spirit however. Hopefully they make a The Hobbit movie someday so we can find out more about his past and how he came about finding the Ring. 14. Theoden
When we first met Theoden, he was just a miserable shell under the power of Saruman. After being freed by Gandalf is when we got to meet the real Theoden. He's actually a good guy who has a strong sense of justice and doing the right thing. He was apprehensive about helping Gondor, since they did not help Rohan in their time of need. But in the end he did the right thing, which really shows his true character. Theoden seemed like a good, compassionate man who genuinely cared about family and the well being of others. Can't fault that, can you? He only doesn't rank higher because he wasn't very colorful and was too business like all the time. |

If you based it on the books, no way Arwen is top 25 material. My top 5: Frodo, Sam, Gollum, Gandalf, Aragorn. |

Its two separate entities, and they had to beef up Arwen's part a tad otherwise she'd seem even more pointless. Besides, she had, what, 30 minutes of screen time total, MAYBE? It really wasn't a big deal at all. |

Martrae wrote: Eh, I prefer actually reading stuff. I just haven't gotten around to it. I will someday though! 13. Pippin
12. Merry
It was hard for me to rank these two because they are basically interchangeable in my mind. Both are pretty much there for comic relief, although they do take on more serious roles as the films progress. I can never really tell them apart as far as who did what. I gave Merry the slight nod because he is played by Charlie from Lost, and I always liked him. Anyway, like I said, I can never really tell them apart as far as who did what. I know one of them knocked the bones down the well in the Mines of Moria, which made a shitload of noise. I know one of them grabbed that crystal ball thing from Gandalf while he was sleeping and saw Sauron's plan to attack Gondor. I know one of them sang to the steward of Gondor while he ate food and blood dripped out of his mouth. I know one of them aided Eowyn in defeating the Witch-king. I can just never remember which one did what. Sue me. |
