2) Kitana



Kitana is my second favorite character in MK2. She is so ridiculously powerful when she came out. I thought it was really hilarious that Ed Boon didn't realize that her fan lifting move would be so ridiculously powerful. Kitana was interesting storyline, because she was from a place called Edenia, which was taken over by Shao Kahn. She then wrestles Edenia back from Shao Kahn. Because of Kitana and her Edenia background, we got to have other characters such as Sindel, Jade, Tanya, and Rain later on. She probably has the most well known family in the MK universe (Sindel and King Jerrod being her parents). The other huge significant importance of Kitana is her love relationship with Liu Kang, although it didn't really amount to anything (since Liu Kang dies in MKDA). I don't think there is any love relationship in the MK universe...except for Johnny Cage and Sonya (although that is just more speculation).

I definitely love Kitana's moves (fan lift, and fan throws). The pretty kick move is pretty cool in MKDA. Kitana is only one of two females (the other being Sonya) that leads an organization/empire, which is also pretty cool. I am slightly annoyed by her being slowly demoted into the damsel in distress though.

There is only one downside to Kitana. Kitana in Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance was somewhat of a failure. So in Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, they introduced this thing called an impale move. That means you use your weapons to impale someone, and the person bleeds to death. However, when you do that you lose your weapon. This is incredibly problematic for Kitana. It was stupid because instead of prior games (where you can through Kitana's fans infinite times), you can only throw them once. Once you lose the fans, Kitana can't even do her fan lifting move...since she doesn't have a fan. I know ever since in MK2, they tried toning her down, since she was incredibly powerful...but that was overkill.
