2) The Ponderosa section of the CBS site, which is still using Gabon footage, says there will be NEW Ponderosa starting next Friday, April 17. Therefore, whoever is voted out next will be the first jury member.

Wow... 16 survivors, no tribal swaps, 7-member jury with a final 2... it's like a hug from Jesus.

(Although... it's possible they intended for a final 3, but weren't sure if Joe would be back in time for the next TC, like we saw with Bruce, so they could have just decided on the spot to not include Joe and make it final 2.)

I hope it's a Final 2. Then CBS will just have F3 for seasons with casts larger than 16, but F2 for 16-person casts.

I'm one of the few here that believe that the introduction of the Final 3 actually improved the series. Originally, the Final 2 was great and I was on the edge of my seat when Probst read the Final votes for Borneo and Outback. But by the tenth season, the Final Tribal Council and the reading of the final votes had became totally anti-climactic. It became clear that the winner of the final IC had too much power and the best player often finished third. They could have easily cancelled the Final Tribal Councils for Palau, Guatemala and Panama and just had the jury vote and I would have been just as satisfied since it was obvious who would win in each case.

Starting with Cook Islands when the final 3 was introduced:

Cook Islands - Final 3, I'm again on the edge of my seat when Probst reads the votes since we have 2 worthy finalists as opposed to a probable Ozzy vs. Becky Final 2 (snore!)
Fiji - The Final 3 averted a disasterous Dreamz/Cassandra Final 2. Fiji was a bad season with Earl's victory being the only reason that I can tolerate rewatching it. Production was so displeased with Fiji, that Probst admitted that they were considering ending Survivor after Micronesia. That disasterous Final 2 (which would even be more hated by the public than Brian/Clay) might have been the final nail in the coffin for the show.
China - The final 3 allowed us to be entertained by Courtney as a finalist otherwise it probably would have been Todd vs. Amanda.
Micronesia - Again, the final 2 results in the best player, Cirie, finishing third.
Gabon - FTC would have been bad whether there was a Final 3 or a Final 2.

Overall, the Final 2 structure has resulted in too many mediocre players winning.

Hopefully, the Final 2 for Tocantins will be two deserving players rather than something like Stephen or JT vs. Sierra where it will be obvious who wins.
