If gokey wins, he'll probably release a small gospel cd. terrific If adam wins...after awhile he'll probably go back to broadway. If scott wins...hicks 2.0 and not to mention it would be a gimmick If lil wins...her cd will sell 2.5 copies at most If anyone else wins...hey wait that's not possible! so that begs another question...WHY THEY HAVE BEEN UNNECESSARILY OVERPIMPING THEM?!? b/c no one will listen any crap scott/lil/gokey produces post-show. silly AI producers.

I think Daughtry will once he releases his second album. The jury is still out on Jordin. As far as the Cookster, he is just coming out of the gate. We have to give him more time. It depends if the label is invested in him or not.

Kelly Clarkson only became a superstar after her SECOND album. The only two Idols to really make smash hits right out of the box have been Underwood Daughtry. Compared to Taylor, Ruben, Clay, Justin Guarini, Diana Degarmo, Blake, Bo Bice and possibly even Fantasia, Jordin and David Cook are doing quite fine. Quit your whining.

Kelly, aside, none of the people who have won this show are really that type of singer. Carrie Underwood is big because they knew immediately to market her as a country singer. But people like Rueben, Taylor Hicks, and Cook, never won the competition but singing cheesy, Dinseyfied pop songs that appear on their albums. This is why its ideal to pretty much do well enough to sing a few weeks on this show, get the boot, and get picked up by a different record company that will let you sing the type of music that made people like you while you were on the show.

If their second albums tank you can say that but not before. Jordin and her managers have done a great job of parlaying her so-so CD into a decent career so far, putting her as an opening act for both Alicia Keys AND the Jonas Brothers, and generally making all the right moves. Daughtry could also easily make a successful second album and give his career long-term momentum. Clay's recording career is probably pretty much over, but he did pretty well while it lasted, with 2 platinum CDs. Nobody has mentioned Jennifer Hudson's Oscar and Grammy winning career. And there are also people who have genuine, viable recording careers from being on Idol (Kellie Pickler, Elliot Yamin) even if they're not stars If Kelly and Carrie are the only Idols people consider "successful", maybe they're just setting the bar too high. I agree with most of the complaints about the pimped ones this year. Adam could be a stage star, but probably not a recording star. Matt is likable and has some singing talent, but he's too inconsistent and will probably screw up somewhere along the way, miss the finals, and be forgotten. I can't see him ever being a star. Danny and Scott kind of suck, and I don't know what great potential the judges think they have (I never understood the Judges' wishful thinking about Chris Richardson being the next Justin Timberlake, either). Lil IS contemporary--TOO contemporary in my opinion. I hate the hip hop/R&B hybrid that she sings. But it IS a very popular style, and I think if Lil gets to 4th place or so she'd probably have more chance of getting a hit CD and singing career out of this than almost anybody else this season. However, it would almost certainly be music I'd hate. What I think we desperately want and need this season is to see some non-pimped singers (Kris, Allison and Alexis come to mind) blossom during the competition, have kick-ass performances, last longer than expected, and go on to later success. Jennifer Hudson and Elliot Yamin are probably the best examples from previous seasons.

Only 1 hit for Jordin? Do you ever listen to the radio "Tattoo," "No Air," "One Step At A Time" either of these ring any bells? Cook hasn't even released his 2nd single and he's about to release 2 to radio, 1 to Pop and 1 to Rock. His winner's single is still going strong on one of the Billboard charts, Adult Contemporary I think and "Light On" didn't "flop" in the way some people like to make it out to. It was slow to catch on but Cook has hardly faded into obscruity. Can you fact check before you post next time? This season though the winner is going to flop hard, I'm 99% certain. I'm quite certain there are people who never listen to country who couldn't even tell you who Carrie is. She is however a megastar in the country world and a celebrity in the world of entertainment in general. People care what she's wearing and who is she dating but in the mainstream media you rarely see her music being talked about. There are other success stories in country besides Carrie though; you also have Josh Gracin, Bucky, and Kellie Pickler who have had a lot of success in that format. Mainstream is Top 40. That is what the show set out to find...a Top 40 artist.... Kelly is the standard of that medium on Idol and she has the advantage of having a very versatile voice and also being the only one who for a long time they'd play on radio. Chris, Jordin, and Cookie are also pretty successful and with the right material and time they could easily reach the same heights of success as Kelly. It's not unattainable by any stretch. However, NONE of the fucks from this season will even come close.
