The only time I've really enjoyed HIIs was in Micronesia. Most of the time they ruin seasons. I think they should come up with something entirely new.
After so many seasons, is that too much to ask?

Dr Will Hatch two point oh wrote:What the fuck are you talking about? Natalie would have murdered Parvati in a jury vote. Since I had to respond to that, I guess I'll give my take. I despise the idol and think everyone who says it changes the game for the good is full of shit. Outside of Guatemala it gives the holder a ridiculously unfair advantage in the game based on skill in no way of form. It's pure luck to be sent to Exile Island with a substantial amount of clues. Every season it has been apart of, it has wasted a ton of available time for us getting to know the characters showing us the landscape of Exile Island and their search. Once someone finds it, every episode becomes "Will so and so reveal that they found the idol?", "Will so and so search through their bag and find out if they have the idol?" "Will someone play a fake idol?" "Will someone get blindsided with the idol?" "Will so and so use the idol?" Blindsides and power shifts happened many times before the idol came into the game, yet the entire gameplay revolves around it. Whoever finds it becomes either the star or the villian and eats up a shitload of airtime. Sure, when Edgardo, James, and Ozzy were sent home, it was magical. When Jaime, Eliza, and Randy played their fake idols, it was hilarious. Still, it's overplayed, it's overused, and I'm sick and tired of the HII. Gabon was a great season because Sugar's idol played little to no role on the editing and strategy as a whole. Let's keep it that way by taking a break from it. Also, anyone who leaves the game when someone plays the idol (Stacy and Amanda) is ridiculously screwed over. It is a golden rule in Survivor that the person with the most votes leaves the game. When that was broken, I was not only disgusted, but along with the addition of the final three, the integrity of the game was lost. |

My beef with the idol is more the unfair nature of who has the opportunity to get it in the first place. If it wasn't connected to EI at all, I think
I'd like it a lot more. It will never cease to be absurd in my mind that Yul won Cook Islands because he lucked out in getting sent to EI on the 3rd or 4th
day of the game, and got an idol that 18 of 20 people didn't even have an opportunity to look for. It turned the game that was about strategy, challenge
wins and social ability into "Get lucky and find this idol that will automatically win you the game".
Since then they have thankfully diluted its power, but have never really gotten rid of the fact that so many don't even get an opportunity to look for it. |

I like it in Guatemala because, well it was something new and I didn't think it would be used over and over consecutively every season. But really I hate
now just how easy it is/seems. I mean the third clue this season, you get your mail here everyday? If you cant figure that out you shouldn't even watch TV.

It tends to make players unstoppable up to final 4 which is really boring. It doesn't need to be removed but it needs game balance, like if someone finds
yours then it becomes there's or something. Or they could remove sharing from it altogether, so alliances aren't sitting on the idol and everyone else
is useless to them.

If they would cast more interesting people, they wouldn't need stupid gimmicks like HII or Exile Island. The letters and videos from home are lame too.

I only like them when the person I'm rooting for has it, and uses it at tribal counsel. Otherwise, lame attempt at a twist. Oh, and that has NEVER
happened.

If the tiebreaker is something redundunt like firemaking, Parvati would probably win. Personally, I think the HII killed the show. |

There are a lot of people at Sucks that I calll "Format Fundamentalists" who fell in love with the show in the old days, but can never quite
recapture that experience, so they bitch and complain about any deviation from the early season format.
Bu the original format had a flaw, it lent itself to predictable pagongings, so twists, switches, HII, etc had to be interested to keep things interesting. |

That's the thing though, Survivor isn't a game show. It is a social experiment where most people choose to have alliances. If there were a group of
people that totally threw out "the game" and voted for each other for any reason, it would still be Survivor. The HII forces people to join alliances
and specifically to align with the idol holder or make an alliance against them. That is more predictable than any pagonging.

Are you psyched about the upcoming recap show, Hatch? You should be, if you're more interested in the people than the game.

I want to see a "Hidden Immunity Idol VETO idol" that will negate the Hidden Immunity Idol at Tribal Council.

One thing is that after Gabon, I don't want to see another FAKE immunity idol. That is so tired and overdone now. I hear that the producers dug up and took
away the ep.1 idols that weren't found, perhaps because they didn't want people passing off any more fakes.
