I couldn't even go back into my room to turn the TV off.

The only movie that ever truly scared me was the Exorcist. I remember trying to watch it on TV in my room and running out absolutely shaking!

Darkness Falls scared me as an adult. For reals.
Edited to add, I had to sleep with a light on for about a week. |

Monsieur Muggles wrote:I saw this when I was 16. We saw it at the drive-in. It was a Fog/Phantasm/Fog again triple feature. We took acid and sat in lawn chairs in the back of a pickup truck and watched The Fog twice. This was in Ventura Cali and the fog rolled in just as we were leaving. It turned into a super foggy night and my boyfriend kept freaking me out about the leper zombies coming to get me. I didn't sleep at all that night. I love the movie now. <3 Stevie Wayne!

The Mist, and I remember this one night when I was in Pitt I showed the movie to one of my girlfriends and on our way back up to her house, and it was really
really misty out, we picked up her sister and her sister gets in the car and says how about a tree fell on our neighbors shed last night. That same thing
happened in the opening to the mist. We were freaked.

I wouldn't swim in the ocean after watching Jaws.
I was afraid a hand was going to reach out of the ground and pull me down to Hell after watching Carrie. |

Moulin Rouge scared the living shit out of me, but not in the way you might think.
Full disclosure: first movie in ten years I couldn't bear to finish. |

I loved Moulin Rouge but I understand why a lot of people hate it.
I want to see Wait Until Dark and the one Factory Hurl posted. I will look into them soon. ^_^ |

I was afraid of swimming pools cause of JAWS when I was a kid. Lately the only real disturbing/creepy movie I've seen that stayed with me for a
while was Session 9.

I trust Buggles's taste, but a David Caruso movie? O_o

I hate David Caruso, but loved Session 9.
Most underrated horror film ever. |

Yeah, Caruso actually wasn't a distracting presence to the movie. Which is probably a first. Session 9 is great though. Barely any gore or even violence
but once you piece together what's going on, it's creepy as hell.

Wow! All the JAWS fear surprises me. My husband told me that JAWS never bugged him because he lived in the southwest desert.
Funny that those of us in the beach environment used it for comic relief! We did notice that a few old boat d.udes at the marina did NOT seem to find our "dying by attack of shark" pranks as humourous. Guess we So Cal beach kids were laughing loudly at the fears that JAWS instilled in non-beach goers. Course, if we lived in Australia or somewhere that Great Whites really did attack - would've been a whole different story! |
