Why are all these bags under Timbira's post area?

I can't puzzle if "more rope on the ground" means Jalapao is ahead or not.

I would think more rope on the ground would be a good thing, as it would mean you've pulled more towards you, but... I dunno. If there are three spools in
a row, and they move from one to the other, Timbira could actually be just barely a spool ahead.

Ok .. now that we have the lay of the land ... what are those $%^#@*?! bags and why does Timbira have so many?

questions, questions.
I think I have ruled out that the bags contain game-apparatus first used before the "second" part of the challenge. All Timbira (except debbie) are pulling on the major rope in one shot, and many bags are present Timbira's side then. I assume Debbie is having her turn in the spin-dry cycle. Staring at those bags a long while, I cannot rule out sand-content, reward-goodie content, etc. I have thus far been unable to make a connection between the bags and completing a spin cycle turn. I guess it could be as simple as exit here, take care, let us laugh at you while you pick up a bag from a pile and drunkenly wobble to your rope-pull area and drop your load, and help pull. |

lol barf bags for the dizzy people
It could just be where they tossed some detritus. Maybe Jalapao piled theirs more off to the side, like Timbira has their pulled in rope to the side instead of behind. Or is it just their personal bags?

Anyways, Taj spinning, stupid shorts guy running. No sign of bags, rope definitely goes from spool to harness at his back. Would one choose to do Taj first,
single-handed? She would be strong to help pull, but she would be heavy to spin. Or is there one puller for each spinner? No sign of rope (like some sort of
pully to the next spool) or bags when she is done
This for sure is Tyson, so at least four people spinning for Timbira - Debbie, Sierra, Erin and Tyson.

birdlady wrote:Thought-provoking as usual, Birdlady. If they were personal bags, would we not see at least one personal water bottle as well. Would everyone have put their bottle inside their bag, and roped close the bag top? I am with you on the probability that Jalapao's !#@$%%! bags might just be out-of-frame....and the same applies for Timbira's big rope. |

I stand corrected, Shadow. I also do not see a lot of spare coiled big rope on Timbira's side in this shot. I believe the frame is wide enought to
allow a conclusion that Jalapao has more "big rope" pulled. (what ever that means)

Also if you notice, Timbira is leaning a bit forward like they are getting pulled off balance, while Jalapao is leaning backwards.

There's always the chance that Tyson's leaning forward for some leverage, and then is going to drop back, leaning with all of his body weight to pull
the rope in, rather than just using his arms...

If this is a two part, pause in the middle, challenge there must be an incentive for them to run hard enough to spin the brains out of their tribemates.
Maybe the bags do contain camp comfort items from this part of the challenge.

it doesn't look like any of the Timbira tribemates are in any position to be pulling with their weight. None of them are leaning back like the Jalapenos
are. *IF* tyson was simply adjusting to get a better grip, there should be at least one of the others tugging hard still.
To me, it looks like Timbira just got to the group tug point in the challenge and are just getting into position to start pullin. Coach is turned to instruct the rest of the tribe in how to properly tug a rope *eyeroll* and Brendan the anchor isn't even anchoring much yet. If they hadn't quite started yet, it would explain their positions, the lack of leaning and the lack of rope around their feet. |

Good thoughts Rabbit. If that is the case this isn't a tug of war challenge.

Kona wrote:I don't know about pausing in the middle, but the incentive for them to run hard enough to spin the brains out of their tribemates may involve a mad dash to prevent the opposing tribe from finishing their turns spinning and having the advantage in pulling on the "other big rope" to win the reward. I give up on the relationship of all this to bags. Bags are my red herring. Edited to correct spelling as usual.

I also doubt it's a two parter and that the bags are part of it.
It seems more likely that it is option two, a non stop pulley tug-of-war. For the Jalas Stephen and Sydney have not been seen spinning. Stephen is the more likely initial rope holder/tugger against the bathrobe shirt guy with Sydney the last Jala to spin and make it within the tug rope boundaries. A pulley tug-of-war or a haul-something-heavy challenge, with all that rope behind them the Jalas would seem to be well ahead. |
