would be a great replacement for The Shield.

Seriously. It is a good show, and I agree it would be a great replacement for The Shield. It reminds me so much of Boomtown (another show I loved in its first season, the second kinda blew). OR it would be an awesome replacement for fucking Leno. Motherfuckers. |

Local news affiliates are pissed about Leno's porr lead in. I read that in New York NBC was #1 now, they are behind a Spanish station

Homicide: Life on the Streets was the best fucking show to air on NBC. EVER.
Even when they had an off episode (which was basically twice), it still kicked the shit out of every and any cop show ever to air. I am not including The Wire in that because that show, in its Greek tragedy brilliance, will never, ever be topped IMO. MotherFUCKERS. |

I grew up with Hill Street Blues and enjoyed the first season of NYPD Blues.
But nothing touches The Wire, Homicide and to a lesser degree, Boomtown. I re-watched season one of Boomtown this summer when I was home with the nameless office virus that circulates in the warmer summer months. Loved it. Bayliss drove me nuts with his whole 'what's my sexuality?' subplot. But he had moments of pure amazingness. And Pembleton...I fell in love with Andre in that role. If you haven't seen it - watch Thief. He is solid gold in that show. |

I remember really liking the pilot, but I never had the time to watch it. I planned on getting a hold of the dvd.

The Wire is not a substitute.
That would be like substituting a 5 star meal for dumpster pickings. No offense to Southland, because I LOVE this show, but The Wire is second to none. The first scene of the first episode of the first season is so fucking brilliant, it makes men like Prime Minister weep. |
