Umm, I respect you as a poster Wezzie, but why would you be happy for a recycled location (and a pretty bland one at that) and a plan that would make them
continue to recycle it over and over again?

If I can help shed any light on this - it sounds to me like this person could be talking about Shipwrecked (a British reality programme) which is filmed once a
year, always in the Cook Islands for a few months. The contestants are always taken across from one island to another on motorboats.

^ Hopefully this is the case. Recycled locations always require some lame, gimmicky twist to keep people interested.

Cook Islands was actually a really good location. The tribal council for S13 was one of the best as well. But I feel that this is all bad news for us. This
will most probably be the last season. There is really no more twists they can apply to the show. I mean, this will be the last season and it will end with
All-Stars. Shows have been canceled in the past having great ratings--- Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, Sopranos.... I really wish this werent true, but I
have a feeling this is. So to all the people out there who want to get on the show, Survivor 19 would have been our last shot!

considering all the other mile-stone seasons (s5 - thailand , s10 - palau , s15 - china) didn;t involve any returning castaways or anything special in
particular, season 20 is probably just gonna be another average Survivor.

CBS will milk this cow for all it's worth as long as MB lets them. I doubt 20 will be the last season.

I really don't get all the people assuming that season 20 will be the last. Don't they always renew the show in 2-season increments? The ratings are
still going strong, plus this year they've finally started getting some media recognition about how good the
ratings still are after having been on the air for 9 years now. They'd be foolish to not continue with it.

The 20th season could be in Papua New Guinea. It's a wonderful place with a very exotic wildlife and culture. And it's not far from Samoa.

So to all the people out there who want to get on the show, Survivor 19 would have been our last shot!Yes but in the same sense it also cost a lot to produce those shows. Friends for instance cost at least 6 million an episode for just the cast...Survivor maybe costs 6 million a season. It would make sense to cancel a show that costs a lot while its still getting good ratings so as to not let the show be remembered as a failure and an embarrassment. I really feel they would do several things before they cancel: 1. Switch time slots on Thursdays. Move CSI and whatevers on at 10 up an hour each and put Survivor at 10. 2. Move Survivor to a different night/time of the week so the 12/13 million would be a real success for its time slot (which it already is, and people are failing to recognize) 3. Cut costs. Go somewhere really cheap like an island off Hawaii or even *gulp* replace Jeff. Jeff knows this is his legacy so I think he would take a pay cut before he would allow him self to get replaced. 4. Switch channels. CBS/Viacom owns a lot of random stations. I could see them putting it on The CW or MTV even as long as they do away with old people and focus it more on 18-40 year olds. |
