I really went into re-watching them almost with the mentality of trying to dislike them and I still couldn't. I have rambeled on and on about what I liked, if you can remember, tell me what you didn't. I really am curious.

At the time of the original airing we were wondering what was going on at the beach with the hatch blowing up and Sun, Jin and Sayid on the boat and we had to sit through 6 weeks of Other/Jack/Kate/Sawyer stuff and then a long hiatus. Yeah there was a little beach stuff, but mostly Jack/Kate/Sawyer/Other stuff. I liked the episodes alright at air time, but I would have preferred to see some of the other stuff. Rewatching them I liked them a lot more. But I wouldn't go as far as to say they are the "strongest batch of episodes" |

pussycow wrote: Very fair and I completley get that. It is defintley a different experience watching straight through on DVD (especially these eps in particular). And I don't think they are the strongest batch of episodes (everything from S4 for example is better) but I put them up there because I do really enjoy them. I just don't think they should be considered the worst episodes in the series' history. But I digress. |

Watching episodes back to back does makes a difference. My daughter and I marathon-watch a lot of seasons of shows that we never see on tv. I've pointed
out to her that if I had to wait a week in between some episodes I considered weak, I would have been annoyed. I don't feel that way when I can move on
quickly.

I have been re-watching S1 with my oldest daughter. We watched Numbers the other day and I realized that the man Hurley got the numbers from (Lennard) and his
shipmate (the man who blew his head off in Australia) heard the numbers the same year that Danielle crashed on the island. 16 years before the losties
crashed. Hurley would have never heard the numbers if Danielle changed the outgoing message a little sooner.

Alrighty, I just wrapped up S3. Here's one observation that struck me. We were in given a huge hint in S3 that Ben had never had any sort of real
"face time" with Jacob. In "The Man Behind the Curtain" (3x20) Tom and Richard were shocked to hear Locke announce that Ben was taking him
to see Jacob. Then in S5 we finally find out that Richard had good reason to be shocked. In "The Incident" (5x16) Ben, when confronting Jacob,
finally admits that he has never seen Jacob before that moment, and Richard had always been the conduit between them. Ben says, "all I ever heard was
your name ... Richard would bring would bring me your instructions."
Richard knew damned good and well that Ben couldn't take Locke to see Jacob, since Ben had never seen Jacob himself. In "TMBtC" Richard also had to be wondering what Ben really intended to do to Locke when he was taking him to "see Jacob" and got his answer when Ben came back to camp alone. |

Right now I'm well ahead of the schedule. I'm planning to watch all of "There's No Place Like Home" plus the first two episodes of S5 (I
have them all on my DVR) this weekend.
