Locke was going to kill himself because he was supposed to bring the 06 to Eloise. And he figured he failed the first part already? Locke has a history of having great faith in his specialness and destiny, yes...but he also has a flaw where his sense of failure gets the better of him and he turns on a dime.

(a week and a half of shooting) Hes only done 4 episodes on Lost for all this time, 1 day shoots for most of them. I doubt there was much of a conflict :P They didnt HAVE to make his character disappear if they didnt want you. I wouldnt be surprised if we see him again, either!

I can't even come up with a plausible reason WHY she would be there. Anyway, again I am grateful that they reversed the order of the two episodes. It just wouldn't have made sense to see Locke alive on the island along with a crashed plane and people we hadn't been introduced to yet, and then the following week go back and see the explanation of the major characters being on this plane.

I'd have thought Locke might have at least gone to see Eloise, just on the chance she could help him convince the O6 in some way. He was commanded to go there.

For me, like I said, total random out the ass theory. It looked like (read: they edited it to look like) Sawyer was very surprised to see who it was, and he knew her, but it didn't look like Kate. I thought the hair looked like Charlotte's but I really can't see a reason for Charlotte to be in that situation (whatever the situation may be) either. I'm thinking Hurly, Kate and Jack are in the 70's and everyone else is in 2007. The plane crashed on the smaller island and they later took the outriggers to the 815ers camp on the regular island. Which makes me wonder if at the beginning of season 3, when Kate, Sawyer, and Carl took a canoe back to the island, was it the exact same kind the 316 people and time-jumpers found? He was under an assumed name, so I'm sure they couldn't find any family for him, so they just sent him to the nearest cheap-o place. I've always wondered if maybe Richard is more of the "chosen one" than anyone, and maybe he just labels other people as such to keep the heat off himself. John Locke tells Jack he met his dad on the island, sending Jack into a drug-addicted spiral (like his dad before him), then Locke dies the same way his father did, then he wears Jack's dad's shoes in his coffin as a surrogate father figure to Jack. Even the daddy issues on this show have layers.

It's possible that the psychic guy was misinterpreting his "vision" (assuming he really did have one). If he said "Don't let the baby be raised by another", but really meant to say "Don't let the baby be raised by An Other", then it is not really a loose end. Arguably, Aaron was meant to stay off the island, and now that Kate has listened to the ghost-warnings coming from Claire and left him behind, he is no longer in danger of being raised by An Other.

Actually, it would still be a loose end because he also said "There is no happy life for him without you." So, I'm going with "Don't let him be raised by another." And to whoever said that Claire was most likely dead because of her appearing to Kate like other dead people, Walt also appeared to people and wasn't dead. Could be she just has some "specialness" because of the whole "Chilling in the cabin with my dad who is speaking for Jacob these days" thing. I dunno, I just think that if she was actually dead dead, they wouldn't have left it so ambiguous.

He probably surmised that if Jin survived then maybe others did too, and that could put some of Widmores guys on the island. Ben really wouldn't want that.

Locke tried talking to them and they wouldn't come back. He might have figured the sooner he died the sooner everyone would get back to the island. He was told his dying was a sacrifice so maybe he thought by killing himself he was making a sacrifice for the island. I don't believe that Ben knew Locke would come back to life on the island. He saw his chance to get back and took it. He may have thought if Locke died he might get to be the leader again. Remember Michael couldn't die until the island was done with him. Maybe Ben figured if he could actually kill Locke then the island might be done with him and resume his place as leader. Btw, I think Ben and Widmore are both using Locke. I suspect Widmore had something to do with Sayid being on the plane. He told Locke he would do everything in his power to get everyone back to the island. I'm sure he was aware of what Locke was doing and took mattes into his own hands to get Sayid there. Also Ceasar and that chick are probably connected to Widmore. He knew about Eloise so he may have put some of his own people on the plane. Either way they don't seem like normal passengers to me.
