idoit who was spinning in circles and hit me with his car's rear end causing me to go head on into a concrete barrier, totally wrecking my car, tried to
tell the judge it was my fault 'cause I rear ended him. he said all his friends told him it was so. Idoit was 5 lanes over from my lane.
judge just gave a snorty laugh and said guilty to him - I was just mad 'cause I was supoenoed to testify and I was probably the reason the judge laughed 'cause I made a googly eyed gape-jawed movie-worthy face of disbelief when the guy was saying it was my fault. |

Who says acceleration lane? Fast lane, surely?

acceleration lane = lane in which one accelerates to match freeway speed before entering the freeway (hopefully)

No I got that part..I've just never heard it actually called that. Is the right lane the slow down or coast lane?

the only reason I know it's called that is because of the signs we've had during construction lately: Warning, short acceleration lane

The last accident I had was similar to his, it happened close to 15 years ago. I was coming up on an intersection that had a separate a right turn lane with a
yield sign at the end of it. There was a car about 5 or 6 car lengths in front of me entering the turn lane just as the light turned yellow. I knew that, in
addition to the light taking several seconds before turning red, there was also a couple of seconds delay before the light from the other direction would turn
green.
So, I looked over to see if there would be time for me to make the turn before the oncoming traffic would make it impossible. After I realized I had plenty of time to make the turn, I looked forward again to find the car that had already entered the turn lane was sitting there stopped. And not only had it stopped, it was stopped a good dozen feet before the yield sign, instead of right at the yield sign. I had nowhere near enough time to stop before plowing into the rear of that car. Legally, I was completely to blame; but I seriously wanted to throttle the little old lady who explained that she saw the light turn yellow and had stopped, "just to be sure". The lesson in both cases is to make sure you know what the car in front of you is doing, before you worry about anything else. |

Oooh I had a fun experience once. I came out of the mall and got in my car and they guy next to me (who was in his car with his girlfriend) shouts across
"Hey scumbag! You hit my car with your door!" Which I clearly did not do. So I ignored him and started the car and he was all like "Hey douche
get out of your car" and he got out and started coming towards me. SO I took off because he was really big and angry and his girlfriend had this wild eyed
scared look in her eyes like she was about to see a murder.
So I am leaving the mall parking lot and I see him in my rear view mirror speeding to catch up to me. He gets right behind me and starts riding my ass so I am kind of freaked out but at this point I am more angry then anything else because I know I did nothing wrong. I am also feeling fairly safe in my car and I'm trying to think of where the nearest police station is and how I can best get there. He keeps following me tailgating me and I can see him all raging in his car and then the light in front of me turns red and I get a bit nervous that he is going to get out of the car and come put his fist through my windshield or something. But instead when the light turns green he speeds around me and tries to cut in front of me to cut me off. And hits the car in front of me. Really hard. The driver of the other car gets out and is waving her hands around in anger and screaming at him. So I just back up, drive around the accident scene and take off. I could have stayed totell the police what a loon he was but I figured he was in enough trouble already and I didn't want to get involved. |
