hmm. I like David Cook, and this is good, but it isn't as great as I thought he was going to do.

Piss poor vocals and a shitty song choice. Nice way to start the night, Cookie.

I'm not liking "Hungry Like The Wolf". First of all, I always think or "Small Sacrifices" and Diane Downs shooting her kids while this
song played. Chilling. Second of all, I think his voice sounded too rough and raggedy.

That sucked ass. And they need to fire the sound guy. I could hardly hear the band, which David could have used more of to cover his shitty vocals tonight.

He should have picked a different song. It's a great song but not one meant to win a competition.

Hmmm, that was just ok for me. Thought he'd do more with that song.

David Cook.
Hungry Like The Wolf by Duran Duran It's actually Cookie's "birth year song" as well as being a R&R classic. Just okay on the start; dunno what I was expecting but it would have been more interesting, I suppose. He leaves the mic stand behind and approaches the crowd, where he takes the unchallenging melody line and has his way with it. The chorus choir almost doesn't belong here, and fortunately he's loud enough to overpower them. I think they're too loud in spots. Not bad, nothing wrong with it. Just didn't knock my socks off. A 7. Randy: Aiight. That was, you know, I'm interested to see what you guys choose. Such a huge variety of songs. That was an okay song and performance. I'm looking for mad hot vocals. That was just okay for you. Paula: Your Hungry Like The Wolf has left me with a big appetite. To watch you grow over these months, makes me remember why I tolerate being the only girl in the boys' club. Simon: It was good, but a little copycat. Good enough to probably get through to next week? Yes.

That was a bit disappointing. I agree with Randy, good, but not great.

Underwhelming so far, but for Simon, already enough to say he should go to the next round.
Tough standard you go there, Simon |

David rushed through it a little bit, but he's in good voice as always.

Well if that was the best song they had to open the show with, we are in for a crappy night.

I'm sort of rooting for Syesha to do awesome. I am burned out on the guys this year - they either look bored or overeager.

Simon saying it's enough despite there being seven more performances.
We know you're the official judge who gets to do the pimping, Simon, but at least cover your tracks. |
