You are confused about the rules. Posting a PM is NOT an INVASION OF PRIVACY. NO RULES WERE BROKEN. If you send correspondence to X person, that correspondence becomes the property of X person. Whether it's a PM, email, or letter, it's no longer yours. You have no say in what happens to it. So, don't be mailing out your social security number in "confidential letters" to random people, and then cry when they've sold it.

You can request confidentiality, but Jani never promised it to you. You CANNOT impose the stricture of confidentiality in that one-sided way. So, Jani had no ethical responsibility to keep the PM private.
