Search Youtube for "Marco cooks for" and they have the complete shows in parts where Marco cooks for famous chefs of the time. Nothing exciting, but Marco in his rock star prime as the world's youngest Michelin 3 Star chef. |

OK just finished the ep (merci Vicc!). This kicked ass. Totally frenetic and insane just like a restaurant is so it works for me. I would have loved a two
hour premier. Marco is still as insane and hot as ever, but I'm biased because I worship the guy. The critic was hysterical. Go team Red!

Twas a MAJOR flop. Beaten by The CW and Univision. Hopefully, they'll air all of the episodes.
The premiere of NBC's Chopping Block is reported to be NBC's lowest rated series premiere this season. It was humbled in the demos by Univision's Cuidado con el Ángel. Life showed little of it. Law & Order's 2.3 demo rating at 10 might be a level that will keep it from being canceled. Or not. It's right on the bubble.

I am not surprised it was such a low premiere. I heard nothing about the show, and just stumbled on it last night flipping through the guide. Very glad I found
it, I hope NBC gives it a chance for some word of mouth, because I think it is an interesting show.

That part didn't really bother me because most restaurant "duos" that have their own places are usually the chef/front of the house combo.
Pretty much every couple I worked for in restaurants was like that. I didn't like that they smooshed this all into one hour.

I just watched this and I think it could have been better served with an hour and a half premier to showcase Marco and the contestants' backgrounds more.
They could also have shown more of the restaurant operation scenes as well as the prep work done before opening, to show how the contestants interact more. We
didn't really get that clear of an idea how a team failed just by looking at what was shown.
That said, I like Marco as the host. He comes across as a philosopher chef, if there's such a thing. I also like that old couple, the one with the woman with the missing fingers from a food processor accident. We barely got that information before it was back to full speed ahead pace of the show. And the team that pussied out and quit? What a waste of a spot. They couldn't even hack it for one service.

Yeah, it need more exposition, but they probably didn't was to give 90-120 minutes to a new show with a relative unknown (in America). Hopefully tonight more characters come out and a bit more drama occurs. |
