Madison explains to her mother, Shea, and Trish that it wasn't the Sheriff who abducted her. It was her "new friend," John Wakefield. She met him the first day they arrived on the island. Madison goes on to tell them that someone brought food to her and Wakefield while they were hiding in the tunnels. Based on this information, the others realize that John Wakefield has an accomplice and it could be someone they know. As they discuss who it could be, Wakefield breaks down the door, armed and ready to kill. ------------------ Why wouldn't they actually show this? Wouldn't it ratchet up the paranoia and make it more fun? Posts: 25 (07/01/09 5:26 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	I wouldn't put much time and thought in figuring out the logistics and practicalities of why certain people weren't killed at certain times (ie. Trish, and Chloe's kidnapping) -it has more to do with it being dramatic than a well thought out plan by the killer(s). It's just the universe in which things go a certain way for the ending. Like Wakefield not worrying about getting shot while in plain view or barging into the Cannery (I always thought it was the Canary) and not being plugged by five shotguns and knocked over the head with a baseball bat. Like the question of whether he would have killed Chloe -doesn't matter. The writers would never think past that, only that Chloe would have a dramatic death. I still think Harper's was a great idea; but a 13 week slasher flick won't work, it has to be a mystery. A slasher flick has to be more of an hour and half rollarcoaster ride, a serial needs something where you are pondering during the weekly hiatus.

I thought it's worked out pretty well so far..some people may be disappointed but it's been an excellent ride so far. I'd love a season two of Harper's Island with a high school reunion theme.

No pretty much exactly like Harper's Island but taking place in a high school focusing on 25 new suspects who all return with bagage from their histories together. There would be other characters obviously since there are more than 25 in a grad class but that could be easily solved by a mass killing like a fire or electrocution (among other things). The remaining characters could be then locked inside the school for the final episodes after they realize something is up. Reunion was a really good show and I enjoyed the episodes that aired. It's not really anything like Harper's Island but both were good in their own right.

This is exactly the criticism with LOST, and there was an article with the writers/producers of Harper's Island I read a while back where they say they actually know some of the writers of LOST, and that those writer's "cheat" (their words) and add/drop/change things along the way, and how they weren't going to do that on Harper's Island. FAIL. Not addressing the "Ave Maria" thing is ridiculous.

Only Die Hard fans would know what I mean here. Firstly when he and Henry go outside and try to turn on the generator? I thought it was gonna explode lol Then when he was looking for Beth in the tunnels, (And when he found her)I thought he was getting cut in pieces or something Then last week he lights a candle? Who thought he might've been lit on fire? And when he was in the kitchen with Sully, who thought he would get poked in the eye or stabbed? He cheated Death alot, interesting! lol

The red ink, the china, the bones in Wakefield's grave...I could look past all that. But the "Ave Maria" phone calls are just so incredibly random, and they didn't just happen once, but TWICE during the series. Obviously there must be SOME reason why Abby got those phone calls. I don't understand why that wouldn't be addressed.

Maybe if the "clue" hidden by the bear was more important I would be able to accept it as an explanation. I never really cared about who was in Wakefield's grave. I just assumed it was some nobody killed by Wakefield. I would still like to know what exactly did happen to the china (even though I think the scene was just to show Trish and Mrs. W's relationship.)

Like someone else said, it was so random that it could only have been interpreted as a clue from the killer. And then they just let it drop? This show ended up being a fantastic concept that was fucked up time and time again by bad writing. In the right hands we could have had something special that would have been renewed for more seasons.
