While rewatching Amazon the other day I noticed that the chart for that season really needs to be redone.
What a good season that was in terms of editing, though. Everyone got a good amount of airtime (minus Butch but he would've been boring anyways.) |

posting winner picks that you don't agree with.
This is the first time since I joined Sucks that when a new season has started (China through Tocantins), I haven't put my pre-show favorites in an avatar at all. I don't really have any pre-show favorites for once, I guess I like Russell S., Russell H. and Laura so far, but that could all change. I'm just pumped cos where I live at school doesn't have any TV or cable but I just found a website where I can stream CBS, so I watch it live with the rest of you guys. Hoping for a lot of different winner possibilities. It'd be awesome if everyone got an opening confessional.

flf, are we sticking with the same close-call rules as last season? 3 head watchdogs and 3 special watchdogs with you as the tiebreaker? I thought that worked out well last season. What about player watchdogs? After Bob won there was an outcry for him being overlooked, which was true, but do we want watchdogs again? I don't mind if we have them, just as long as we have people who actually post a summary about their watchdog each episode rather than getting bored/giving up on them, as that would defeat the purpose. As always, I strongly encourage everyone to keep an edgic excel chart with them where they can easily place their ratings and hopefully upload and post them here when you have solidified your choices! It's always nice to look at where people's heads have been at and see different trends that people are seeing. It can also help avoid "You love Erinn!" "Bitch I gave her an OTTN and she's never been on my contenders list!" "WTF". If you don't have the time or energy to make a chart or need help using excel, feel free to PM me and I'll send you a template for this season and underneath post all the different ratings so you can just copy and paste them in. Also, I hope everyone posts explainations of each of their ratings in their posts, rather than a long list of edgic formulae. Erinn- INV1 Coach- UTRP1 Debbie- CP5... that doesn't help all that much. I know that most of you do, but I encourage you to give a little explaination of each rating you post, not just "JT- UTRN2.. he was such an ass, you could tell the editors wanted us to really dislike him!", instead try and do "Sydney- CPM5... she gave insights about her own position in the tribe, she was given tons of positive SPV but later people's opinions changed and she got negative SPV, and she was clearly shown all episode and it coincides with Warrior's chart!" Please, please, PLEASE re-read the explainations of ratings on the front edgic page!! I'm in my sixth season of edgic now and before (and even during) every season I re-read the rules for each rating and the guidelines we are expected to follow! Edgic has rules, each rating has criteria--hopefully we can avoid new "inventions" of what ratings mean. Refreshing your mind will help you decide on what rating is best. You don't have to follow the crowd either: if you think a player falls under a certain rating, do it--don't look at what everyone is posting! Make up your own mind first on each rating, THEN look and see what everyone else is giving as ratings, and make any changes that you feel you need to make (we all make mistakes, but your first instincts are usually right, and you can modify them if you feel anyone else is making a better case, but don't forget to make a case if you feel that your ratings are right! Fight for it! It keeps Edgic lively) Finally, try and make posts pretty! Here are some tips for getting your posts read and replied to: -It's always nice to read a post with paragraphs (big blocks of writing get very boring and your eyes naturally skim through it; even place spaces where it's not even the end of a thought, keep blocks of writing down to a few sentences only) -Bold the names of tribes, players, the host and posters in edgic--it'll allow people to see who you are talking about or referring to in your post -Making ratings with pretty pictures and colors or simply having a visually appealing ratings post will probably increase the likelihood of people reading it: act like you're a head honcho! The nicer the ratings post, the more likely people will think you're some experienced, important person and really read what you have to say! Just my little post before the season starts that I hope you keep in mind. My PM is always open for business, I don't bite, I'm just fiesty =) |

Fake? I'm going to rag on people with winner lists that I feel are ridiculous. I'm going to battle with people who have ratings that I feel are
unfounded or bias. I'm going to disagree with people and be brash in my counter arguments. I'm not going to be any different than I have been. That has
no bearing on the type of person I am, and doesn't mean that I can't give out tips and hope for a more professional edgic nature.

Guys and dolls - I really don't have a lot of time this season for SPVs. If any of you want to take over, you're welcome to do so. I have not truly
seen any sort of pattern for them, with the exception that Negative contradicted SPVs are rarely - if ever - associated with a winner (example: Player A says,
"Player B is the laziest SOB I've ever seen, I dislike her intensely because she contributes zilcho," while the image is of Player B working her
arse off around town with other people, who all seem to like B's company and appreciate her herculean efforts.
This sort of editing makes A look like an observant douche, and unobservant douches are not a particularly strong winner's edit device. Yeah, players who get zero SPVs for many eps aren't associated with winners (excl Bob). But overall there is no SPV pattern associated with winners. They basically must confirm that the winner is not oblivious to what's going on around her. Or him. As far as picks, I try and be an absolute virgin - well, at least on Surviver contestants. I think there are some bartenders on this season for a change, and a person who's done many notable things in his life who JP is enamored of. (I copied that last sentence from my analysis of every previous season). So I have no favorites. Not even a cute brunette, although there's nothing wrong with that. So if any of you are dying to anally listen to every utterance in every show for every SPV and determine what category they're in, PM flf. |
