Note, I'm not talking about an edgically winning edit, I'm just talking about a "decent" edit, which is what Erinn has.

I don't think that is entirely accurate - with not evening knowing he is in the final two, a huge amount of people believe Stephen is winning this season period.

I'm only talking about the different sides of the edit, not setting up a diabolical plan to cackle if Erinn wins. I'm not that devoted to it. Although it seems like maybe you are. good luck with that!

The problem is the content. Bob and Danni were super-positive forces that made it so, even if they were ignored, people still felt they deserved the win, especially over opponents who were either equally ignored or portrayed negatively. If Erinn wins, where is that? She's had three positive tones, only one of which was based on Erinn, and not the situation she was in (Exile/Family visit). Meanwhile, Taj is ultra positive, JT is ultra-positive, and Stephen is slightly more positive, due to his not being ignored, than Erinn. She hasn't been portrayed as an underdog like Bob and Danni, either. She basically has nothing working in her favor as a winner. J.T. and Stephen both do. Hell, Taj is more likely to win, edit-wise than Erinn, because it'd be like Bob all over again.

It's frustrating not to able to point out the strong points in Erinn's edit and have a discussion of that without it devolving into a conversation about bias. I mean, it either is or it isn't, but who's to say and why does it matter? The people who point out JT's strengths have JT avatars. flf thinks Stephen is the clear winner and has been sporting his Stephen avi for a while now. So? That doesn't make their points invalid.

And Erinn's vis is not that much different than Parvati's. In terms of underdog status, I just keep coming back to Erinn's comments about why she wasn't able to bond with her tribe and her comments about how she was going to continue to fight even though she was next to be booted in ep 3. It stands out to me. Coach being voted out was not edited, imo, to be Erinn's ultimate triumph. I still think there's more story there. The difference, for me, between Stephen and Erinn is how visible they are. Because Stephen doesn't have a great connection to winning either. His story has been JT, JT, JT, some overcoming wilderness stuff and trust (not trusting JT fully, not trusting the EA fully, etc) and it's remarkably similar to Erinn's story. Trust (she doesn't trust anyone, ever), overcoming initial disadvantages in the wilderness and being the next to go for her tribe. I do think that an Erinn win would leave the audience disappointed and confused, much like a Morasca win, and no I don't know why the editors would want to do that. But was the audience as a general rule ever really going to fall in love with Erinn the way they would Stephen and JT, even if she were more visible? I don't know. But they have tried to make her sympathetic.

There are certain posters who always seem to gravitate towards the pretty young females every season, so after a while it becomes very hard to take anything they say seriously. Maybe that's narrow-minded on my part, but so be it. Erinn's story is that she outlasts Coach and is the last Timbira standing. Thus setting the stage for the Stephen/JT showdown. Anything less this season would be anticlimactic.

That's why I think ultimately, Stephen will blindside JT before the finals and take a much "easier" opponent into the F2 and win handily against either Taj (doesn't need the money) or Erinn (hard to see Erinn getting enough votes against either of the guys).

JT's in the finals, he's a lock to win. Erinn's in the finals, she's a lock to lose. But Stephen vs. Taj would be interesting, because they both could be viewed as followers to JT, and at that point, it comes down to strategy vs. social game.

They could easily have made a Stephen/JT F2 more climactic by inserting more doubt in their relationship than they've done. Instead, they've edited to look like Stephen and JT are super tight and thus should be a shoe-in for the F2. On the other hand, let's say that Stephen/Erinn are the F2, how would you have edited the season differently? You wouldn't have because the Stephen/JT dynamic with Stephen eventually blindsiding JT (speculation) is a great storyline and it's not like they could have somehow molded Erinn into a power player when she simply wasn't.

The lack of doubt is designed to make the other players look like idiots (and Stephen and JT look even stronger). It's another Romber situation.

Survivor has had plenty of high points at the F-3, with the f-2 on the downside of the slope: Lex and Ethan Ian and Tom Terry and Aras The list goes on, but the big surprise/story is often the f-3. This season's edit has all the road markers that point to Stephen doing whatever he needs to do to win, while JT is the hero who has complete faith that his partner will go with him to the f-2.

Yes, but not in the F-2. Edgic predicts that the winner will be somewhat of a surprise. That doesn't mean it has to come in the F-2. In fact Romber/Yuzzy F-2s are in the minority, compared to Sandra/Lil, Brian/Clay-type F-2s. Known pairs are unlikely to make the F-2. The winner will probably be somewhat of a surprise. Just because we had the hideous Gabon edit, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I think JT, at F3, will likely win, and this dynamic of "deserving or not" will come into play. His best move might be to take Taj, but he choses to "we" of his bromance alliance, and it could be his undoing.
