It's obvious to me that the island is skipping around in time too since we saw it go poof at the end of season 4. That & the fact that the Black Rock is in the middle of the island.

If it's the island, then Richard and the Others should be along side Locke/Sawyer group but they aren't. Only the handful seem to be effected by the flash of light. Im going to assume its the island thats skipping around. The main reason being we saw the island disappear, like fluffynurse said. If it was just people being thrown around in time, the island should still be there. Im guessing that Richard and some of the Others are skipping with the island. As if they were like a tree or a rock jutting out of the island. The reason Locke and Juliet and the other losties dont travel with the island, is because they arent integrally part of the island. So, with every flash, the island changes its time, but the losties hover to land whever the island is thrown to. But Richard and the Others arent travelling and viewing the past like the Losties, they are simply travelling with the Island becoming their past selves (cause they have always been on the island) Maybe they are jumping into their past bodies with their new conscious ala Desmond, but they arent being tranported physically. Im guessing what makes them different from the people we DO see travelling physically through time is that Richard and most of The Others were actually born on the island. Thus, a part of it. How much more "constant" can you get if you have always been there?

They would have had like 20 Dharmites or 20 Others manning that button round the clock...

Im almost positive Locke tells him about Jin. I'm just saying that many more things are possible than might be hinted at. I don't see why you would think that Ben kept a parka on for all that time, particularly if we don't know what time means in this circumstance. He could have had the parka on only because he was about to do the time travel thing again or want somewhere else where it was cold - like an Antarctic hatch or something. Also the island may not be the only place where he might be able to time travel from if there are other hatches or Dharma installations at other places on the globe. If Ben went into the future, and if he was somehow able to contact the island without the Flame station he could have some information about the island and who's on it. For that matter he could have met with Richard Alpert off the island who is presumably still able to travel off the island. We only see Ben arrive in Tunisia some time later. Ben may have experienced only an instant of time and jumped directly to Tunisia, or he could have spent 4 months somewhere else, or he could have spent 1 year somewhere else. Again it's only conjecture but if you're going to limit yourself to one dimensional thinking with regards to time on the show you might be setting yourself up to be blindsided by the writers. Also Ben exhaling "cold air" doesn't really mean that much since it could just be the result of the time travel and not having cold air in his lungs because of where he was. Anyway, I was just conjecturing that if Ben did know that Jin was alive how he would know that? He could have been lying of course. Another possibility is that he had the information from interrogating Rouseau in the past. If he has a list of people who were from Rousseau's ship it might include Jin's name. If that's the case it might have taken him quite a while to make the connection but he would have realized at this point that Jin did not die because he was thrown alive into the past. For all we know Ben talked to Jin in the past and remembered that fact all along. It may explain why he was so big on getting lists of the people who crashed on flight 815.

Ah...but thats the thing, shes admonishing Desmond, threatening him, because she knows that Desmond is different, and can bypass the fate/destiny force that affects everyone else (like Daniel Faraday said) She doesnt mean that he must press the button to prevent "every single one of us" from being dead...shes telling him he must do the things hes supposed to do or else it screws up destiny/fate which will kill them all. The very same thing she told Ben in LA. Its not about the button pushing. Its about making sure destiny, and whats supposed to happen, doesnt get F-upped. And, Desmond already changed things by saving Charlie and allowing the 06 to get rescued. Desmond was supposed to push the button for 3 years and turn the failsafe key..not cause that action prevents a horrible catastophre...but that not doing it would be against pre determined course of events on that island. But NOT pressing the button had no more relevence to them all being dead, than say, Boone NOT dying and useing the radio in that plane. Its all the same thing, really.

Posts: 9528 (02/08/09 9:29 PM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	It's interesting how certain "predictions" made using the knowledge from time travel or whatnot in this show can be interpreted different ways and it's never apparent until it actually happens. Like Desmond pushing the button, which is not the point. The point is that he has a path to follow because in the future that path happened and if he doesn't follow the path, everyone dies, and in particular, he has to warned to stay on the path because he has the ability to go off it even as the universe tries to fix the things that he changes, like Charlie's death, which ultimately led Penny to him. One prediction, or result that we know, is that Locke will die. We've seen his body in the present but not how he got off the island or how he died. I think it will be a huge mindfuck if it turns out past Locke, in the course of his time jumping, meets his future self dead and takes his body with him to use to bring the O6 back.
