Why am I not surprised that this thread didn't die at page 77 with the poll like it should have?

Then you missed the point completely.I addressed that point partly when I argued that Amber, Vee, and Sandra couldn't have won in a F3 situation, even if they knew it was coming. I don't think it made any difference in S13 or S16 (and maybe not in S14 either). Cook Islands - imagine if endgame rules were fairer, with everyone knowing it was F3 and Yul's idol expiring F5. Nothing really chages, because Becky and Sundra were blindly loyal to Yul, Ozzy can do nothing without their votes, and Ozzy thought he had a good shot against Yul anyway (wrongly thinking he made more enemies playing the mastermind role). Becky won't vote for Yul at F4 - though maybe Yul ends up in the firemakling tiebreaker where he beats Sundra after she runs outr of flint. Fiji - Cassie and Dreamz only had a decent shot of winning against Stacy. If they knew it was F3 they'd try to blindside Yao-man and his idol at F6, and he's play the idol and eliminate Stacy, ensuring that Cassie and Dreamz couldn't win. Micronesia - Cirie said she'd probably go to F3 with Parvmanda and take her chances, even if she know it was a F2. If she tried to allign with Erik at F5, he'd probably win. If she tried to boot Parvati at F4, Nat and Parv could compare notes and boot her rather than do fire-makling. Besdies, Cirie thought she had the best chance against Parvati. And as Kathy found out in S4, even if you break up a tight pair at F4 the surviving member may well boot you at F3 if they think they have a better shot against someone else. (Cire is Kathy and Natalie is Vee in this analogy.) People can't change their game as much as you think, CR. Unless they decide a F3 gives them no real shot, and simply play for their friends to win, as several have done. |

So what if they couldn't win under circumstances that they weren't playing under? That's my point; Parvati wouldn't have won under normal circumstances, without an 11th hour change. She played a game for a final 3 that she would have lost in. |

You made a big issue about the number of finalists being a surprise in S13 and S16.
I've shown that Parvati made the best of every situation, and that Cirie (a) admits she wouldn't have played the endgame differently and (b) really couldn't have made any move that would have improved her situation much if she'd known about F2. So what's the big deal about it being a surprise? You know as a Raro fan, I was all set to disrespect Yul for having the overpowerful idol, benefitting from F3 etc But when I saw how the game actually played out I had to respect his game. What I hate most about your line of argument, is it sets winners like Brian and Todd up as being "better" merely because the game design was pretty simple (fewer "abnormal circumstances" than usual), and so much of their "luck" was front-loaded in composition of tribes, etc. Rather, the best players should be those who made the most good moves and the fewest bad ones, and who overcome the biggest obstacles. Face it, there are circustances that aren't "normal" almost every season, that could be seen as taiting the winners.

That's not trolling, that's just establishing who's boss in a place where flaming is the coin of the realm. If somebody has an adolescent,
Hinckleyesque obsession with somebody, they should be prepared to go to war over them.

Wrong context Swine\Frimley. My debate with CR here is basically a conceptual issue of winner analysis - like 2 baseball geeks arguing about the best player of
all-time using different criteria.
This is harder with Survivor than baseball, because the game design changes every season and nobody plays more than once or twice. If all the winners played 10 times against strangers, even the best would do well to win 3/10. Like baseball batting averages. |

But Parvati found the idol on exile because Amanda found the last one and used it.
If Amanda doesn't find the idol and gets voted off at F6, the idol is still the one that is hidden at camp. And since Parv/Amanda worked together to find the idol, it might be harder with only 1 ally at camp to distract them. One of the fans would have noticed something was up and gone to find Parvati. Plus with Alexis there instead of Amanda, that changes everything. Erik might not be gullible and fall for sending Parvati to Exile. Cirie probably leaves in 5th because Parvati is less likeable, and Erik probably wins the IC and votes off Parvati for voting off his fuckbuddy Ozzy. Erik probably beats the girls in the F3 IC, takes either one and probably wins. |

I actually kind of like how nobody's sure whether it'll be a Final 2 or Final 3, it makes the gameplay much more interesting. In a perfect world, they'd keep the possibility of a Final 3 over their heads until the end, then have it be a Final 2. Also in a perfect world, the Final 3 would never happen again. |

You went to all that trouble over data that you know to be tainted? Why don't you suck Ravu's dick while you're at it? It's an insult to the
people whose votes (including yours) were diluted.

You can combine both polls in a roughly fair manner (at least for the people near the top) by moving the decimal, converting each score into a 2 digit number,
and adding them together. I've taken SSS's results without the "not in top 40" deduction because that was mostly used in a BS way to vote
down classic players like Brian, Tina, and Hatch.
TOP 15 1. Parvati Shallow, Micronesia - 137.70 2. Richard Hatch, Borneo - 135.50 3. Earl Cole, Fiji - 134.60 4. Cirie Fields, Micronesia - 134.00 5. Cirie Fields, Panama - 132.60 6. craig wrote:Not if one of the polls was rigged you can't. You were the one bitching when Ravu tried to rig SurvivorSurvivorSurvivor's poll, and that only involved five ballots. Now he does the same thing with this poll, and when the rigging elevates Parvati to the top instead of a minority, you decide to become an accomplice to the rigging. This is the absolute height of hypocrisy. |
