This poll is about rating the survivors on how well YOU think they played the game, be it in terms of strategy, social game, getting into the right alliances, riding on coattails...etc . Just your opinion on who you think played the game the best and who did the worst and NOT HOW MUCH YOU LIKE/HATE THEM. Similar to the popularity poll hosted by agent424, vote on a scale on 1-10, with 1 being the most horrible gameplay and 10 being excellent gameplay. Please DO VOTE SEPARATELY for double-appearances (All-Stars, Guatemala, Micronesia) Please also try your best to not allow how much you like a castaway to influence your vote. Haha, but I think this will pretty much be the last one since we would've covered Gameplay, Hotness and Popularity already. Is there really anything else to vote on? And anyway, it's still the off-season for now and I'm pretty sure the results of this poll will all be released by the time Survivor: Tocantins premiere. =D

Posts: 621 (01/30/09 10:27 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	please be conscious to up-scale the "strategy" of some of the earlier seasons... keep in mind that "strategy" wasn't such an editing focus back then as it is now. i found myself giving several of the midgame places rather decent scores - they had very strong games that could've worked out quite well but then something went wrong last minute... players like alex b., heidi, tammy, jerri, etc. basically, i think if a player showed much strategic initiative, i rewarded them for it.

Looking back, really should've given her a five. Most people in the same alliance that made pretty much the same moves would get the same points as each other unless one member is stronger or weaker strategically.

Posts: 12146 (01/30/09 10:37 PM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	All these surveys almost make me want to do another one at some point despite the fact that introducing other peoples' opinions into a countdown makes it inevitably wrong. ;) I rated high the ones who were innovative so I definitely favored the earlier seasons. Anyone can copy a successful strategy, and the fact that it worked in the past usually makes it fail the second time since the players know to look out for it (see Jeff Varner--anyone who tried to copy Richard Hatch in season 2 never had a chance). But even if someone had strong strategy but couldn't control their personality in a way that would help them do well--so Joel and Richard get high scores for being early alliance innovators, while Stacey is more in the middle range. 9s or 10s also went to: Greg, Colby, Tina, Kelly G, Teresa, Kathy, Vecepia, Brian, Deena, Rob C, Tom W, Danni, Cirie, Yul (yeah, the hidden idol was a major, major advantage--but you can't hold against him the fact that he utilized it masterfully), Todd, Cirie (FvF) Sucks that Terry's gonna get mostly 1s and probably be in the bottom 20. Ditto for Lex in both seasons--almost gave him a 9 in Africa if he weren't so "shoot first, ask questions later." Might as well throw Marcus in there as well--not a phenomenal player but along the lines of Silas--had it in the bag until a twist came along and his cockiness caught up with him. Also sucks that Crystal and possibly Kenny will somehow find themselves in the top 20.

I gave Richard a 10 and Joel a 9--I didn't mention them in the list since I included them in my little description. As far as Greg, he was one who just seemed to inherently understand the game, even if he didn't really care about it. He was a pretty creative thinker; getting close to Rich was a brilliant move--unfortunately for Greg, he was dealing with someone who was even smarter than he was. Also, Silas and Marcus played good games? "Yeah, you guys need to vote for Lindsey, but we're not going to tell you who leaves." I think I gave them both 6s, or maybe a 7 for Silas. That was sort of what I was alluding to with his cockiness, because ultimately if it weren't for the twist, he stood a great chance at winning and telling the elders how to vote would have been an irrelevant, albeit still asshole-ish move. Actually the main thing I count against Silas is playing both sides and leading the elders on, which I think was the main cause of their animosity towards him. In fairness, he had about an equal chance of getting voted out at the merge as he did at winning--but he had a damn good shot at winning and the hindsight of the twist makes a lot of people forget that. Likewise, Marcus got cocky and didn't really consider keeping Susie happy--which proved to be his downfall, but again, no twist and he's either the merge boot or the winner. The finish isn't the only thing to take into consideration; Silas and Marcus weren't masterminds but they're both above average strategic thinkers IMHO.
