Let me be clear: I've been here long enough to know asking for help with a serious thread is usually a bad idea. If you're going to flame me, do so properly. No n00bs or ghosties allowed. Well, you're allowed, but it isn't impressive. In fact, it's tired and old. So, spare us all the time of reading your nonsensical bullshit. Basically what I need to know (and it's semi-important, in the unlikely event any of you care) are the known "mactors" in this season. I'm making a point to stay out of spoilers and spec., so I don't want to inadvertenly read anything revealing. So if you know of any of the recruited peeps this season please enlighten me. (mostly from realityblurred interviews) Jerry - recruited after he returned from Afghanistan and a local paper published an article about him. Sydney - recruited a few seasons ago, but if just never worked out scheduling wise. Erinn - recruited after the Kentucky Derby, initially said no, then thought it out, and changed her mind. Sierra - recruited at a taco stand. Brendan - mentions in his audition video on youtube he was recruited, he put it on youtube before he even left for the show. Carolina - recruited by Erika Shay, but is a fan of the show and has been watching for years. known applicants JT - fan for years, first time applying. Ben - has watched for years, didn't like how its always the strong getting voted out, first time applying. Sandy - applied, was first to audition in Seattle. Spencer - super fan, first time applying. Debra - apparently applied quite a few times. unknown right now Taj - likely recruit? Candace - really likely recruit. Joe Tyson Stephen hope this helps!

Posts: 4788 (01/29/09 9:33 PM) Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	A friend of mine is taking a class on the cultural aspects of the media and they're discussing collective intelligence on boards like this where people pool their knowledge together to achieve a goal. The class have to make predictions based on guesstimations and spoiler info (if they want) as to how the people will finish. (at least I'm assuming that's the goal) and mactors are usually people to have a safe bet against. With the exception of Matty & Sugar last season, and a few others throughout the seasons, mactors usually fail in regards to actual applicants who watch the show. Statisically anyway. Soooooooo, without ruining the season for myself, I was wondering if anyone could list the confirmed (via MySpace, Facebook and other sources) the confirmed recruits/mactors. It'd be a big help... As far as I know, they are reading chapters from books that specifically mention the likes of ChillOne, Wezzie, Dan, etc. Like...actual chapters from Sucks history. Kinda impressive and kinda WTF at the same time I suppose.

Posts: 4790 (01/29/09 11:28 PM) Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	The class isn't an elective, it's a major specific course on our culture and how it's effected by old media (TV, Film, and Radio) and new media (internets, DVD) and what happens when they intersect. My major is TV, Film and New Media with an emphasis in Critical Studies, so more Media Theory rather than production. And the book is "Convergence Culture" by Henry Jenkins. All of this is in the first chapter and Dan and Wezzie were/have been/are interviewed for it. [explanation is from said friend for all you guys questioning WTF this is for]

And statistically, mactors have probably done just as well as non-mactors. Earl and Parvati were recruits. Courtney Y was a recruit. I'm sure there are many others. ^_^
