re: makeovers

It always seems to be one extreme or the other for the black contestants: extra-long Naomi weave or supershort/shaved head. It just doesn't work for everyone and they never go for perhaps a midlength cut (I think they did something like that for Nijah this cycle and Keenyah but by the end she had a long straight weave).

They should lay off the bleach for the white girls because not everyone can pull off blonde (especially not this show's speciality of super platinum, practically white) and I feel bad for them having to go home with their hair most likely damaged to hell and back.

On another note:

Teyona is definitely winning. Aminat has already been shown to not know what she's doing in front of the camera and Celia has been dinged for looking old. Whatever to Fo, they've already said that she has "background" written all over her. Allison is the only other one who has a chance to win, but I don't see it happening.

Having said that I've tried, but I really don't get Teyona. To the point that I think this show goes too far in trying to show that anyone can be a model as long as they believe in themselves and give 100%. On the spectrum of model ugly, she's a little too close to "real life ugly".

Being able to pose and look fierce in these convoluted photoshoots only proves that you can pose well and there's a chance that you might be photogenic (assuming that Mr. Jay's magic photoshop didn't do all the work). Doesn't make you a model. Which is why most of the girls with their "amazing portfolios" that the fans cream themselves over end up getting nowhere post-show.

Even if she manages to win the go-see challenge next week (which really doesn't mean a whole lot), I just can't imagine what kind of work she'd be able to get. No model books work on photos alone and that face would do more damage than the ANTM title ever could to her prospects. She looks terribly unmodelesque in person and not in a "needs a makeover" way, more like "she does not look a model" way.

I have no idea what they were thinking when initial casting was being done (or whenever they determine their pre-selects) and they said, "This is the one we're looking for!".

Middle of the pack in terms of winners -- I don't really have anything against Teyona aside from her questionable looks... Whitney and Saleisha will always be bottom rung. I'm not sure the show could ever top that, then again we all said that after Saleisha won and they followed it up with Whitney.
