How about two fans of the show that have never met each other before until the start line.

The connection is there, but its what the people do that make them unique. Ronald & Christina came in TAR12 as the token parent/child team, but are the most memorable out of all of them because they were funny and smart. You can't say the cast is just like the same when you haven't seen them race. |

But the thing is, I would rather see people just like ME run the race. Sure, throw in a short person, a deaf person, goths whatever. But the thing that makes
TAR great that it is NOT about playing the game, like Survivor and BB. it is about how your relationship is with your partner. And I think it is great to see
normal(i use this word lightly) people with normal( again lightly) relationships get the chance to interact with eachother for 24 hours, 30 days in a row. Sure
we do not see all 24 hour, but we sure do see the effects of it.
if you want gimcky people acting like fools, go watch BB. if you wanna see a (sometimes) wide varity of people trying to win a million dollars by backstabbing, watch Survivor. If you wanna watch people that could very well be your next door neighbors run across the global and learn more about the world and themselves, watch TAR. |

I don't want gimmicks on the race. They're usually my least favorite teams in every season. To this day I don't understand how Kunt/Vyxsin and
Dave/Lori have fans. Without their bullshit retarded gimmicks no one would be able to distinguish them from Hope and Norm.

I don't know how much of an interest they have in TAR, but they haven't had enough lesbians on this show.. that's the one thing... we've had 3
in 14 seasons, right?

Wither a "friends with benefits" team

Burritto - I was actually thinking of here. I applied with an internet friend from Sucks back for season 5. I sent her my part of the video and a picture of
me and she added me to her video and put herself into my picture. We never met to do the stuff together and she got a precall but then it ended at that.

Heliox wrote:Actually, that's just it. I was a huge fan of The Amazing Race. Huge. Watched every season except 7 (couldn't stand Romber) and Family Edition. And I loved it. Exciting places, interesting people (for the most part.) Indeed, TAR has been huge in my life. Because of TAR, I got off my ass and lost 50 pounds. I got into The Mole (and made some cool Internet friends) only because I was waiting for TAR 13 to start. But when it did... I couldn't help but get the feeling that "we've seen this all before." For crying out loud, can't they mix it up a little? The problem is not the relationships - it's that the relationships are in no way special. How many "seperated but hoping to reconcile" couples? What distinguishes one from the other? How many model/actors? How many brother/sisters? Look at Lori/Bolo. They were a married couple... but they were an INTERESTING married couple - they had interesting jobs and interesting ways of looking at the world. Same with Kynt/Vyxsin. And you don't need to go for "weird" or "wacky" to present unique - look at Nick/Don. Long story short: Who CARES about YET ANOTHER pair of hot blonds, YET ANOTHER bickering couple, YET ANOTHER pair of actors... I really can't tell what makes any of them stand out. Maybe that'll become evident when the season starts, but it absolutely didn't for TAR 13 (save the comic geeks and the old hippies - both eliminated early), and I'm afraid that this is going the same way. |

brianboyko wrote: there can only be so much variety for teams of 2, this isn't exactly Survivor where you can just cast anyone who stands out, there are a lot more variables that must be checked to make a good team. You do realize there has never been a deaf contestant in the US TAR, there have never been 2 midgets in one team, (how could you say that they are not that different from Charla and Mirna, who are a team of women who are cousins!?) there has never been a gay father and gay son team (not to mention they're actually legitimately successful in the film industry) , they've never had flight attendants before... as for the locations, you do realize the economy is in the crapper right now and TAR isn't exactly the highest rated show of them all.... And after 14 seasons, it's not exactly easy to just keep on exploring newer and more obscure countries as you go along, a lot of things are taken into account when planning something like a race around the world. if anything this season's casting looks more like a repeat of past successful, interesting teams rather than the repeats of bland boring teams from last season. |

This is actually one of the best casts I've seen in a while. Extremely diverse group. Looking forward to it
