That's a good point. I guess to be a leader of the Others, one would be expected to have certain mystical/intuitive powers, and Alpert thought this would
be the case. But you're right, we don't have enough info to be sure of anything at this point regarding that episode.

I rewatched the episode where Alpert went to the hospital when Locke was born....When Locke's mother ran out of the room, his grandmother said something
about adoption and she noticed Alpert looking in the window. The grandmother had this terrified look on her face, kinda like she knew who he was but
couldn't believe he was there....The nurse asked, "is that the father?" and she said something like "I don't know who that is," and
she snapped out of it.... Anybody think that means anything?

Yay... just finished watching this episode. Last time I read the entire episode thread I got a headache, so I stopped about half way this time around.
I liked this episode... I felt it gave us a little info here and there. I like that young Charles Widmore snapped that kids neck, just seems like his character. Oh, and for the few that thought Desmond called his new born baby Micheal at first, he said My God.... don't know if that was clarified, just thought I'd drop that in there. And I love that they named in Charlie. I don't think Desmond has to go back, Charles kind of made a point about that, but hell I could be wrong. I find that I like Daniel and Miles more and more each episode... Charlotte, not so much, she bores me. Anyway I'm off to bed, just wanted to add my tidbits. |

That's kinda weird that Alpert looked EXACTLY the same in the 50's as in the 2000's but he tried the shaggy hair in the 70's

Well, he was "roughing it" then, assumedly (is that even a real word?) waiting for the right time to take over again.

thanks, pussycow for the screen caps. I definitely dreamed my "memory" of Richard as hippy/pirate.
I think that with LOST, everything might mean something. so, it's always possible that grandma of John knew Richard from somewhere. it's also possible that she just thought he was a bit creepy, just staring at the baby like that. lol Her terrified look might have been that she didn't know what to do about this whole situation. Although, she strikes me as someone who says "jump" and people ask "how high?" heh heh |

cindidindi76 wrote:Personally I think their "roughing it" garb is just a facade to give them the "native" look. Like in Expose when Ben and Juliet where in the ...uhh...whatever that station is called where Paulo stashed the diamonds. They were in their island native gear instead of what they normally wear. The interesting thing is that Richard pretty dresses exactly the same throughout the years when he is not roughing it. Not only is he ageless, his fashion sense is timeless! |

lol funny pussycow
but yea i agree...in the 70's Richard and the others purposefully went for the "native" look so the Dharma people would leave them alone and underestimate them (the same they did with the losties when they crashed) It seems like pre-Dharma infiltration of the island they actually wore some kind of uniform with their names on them? |

Yea thats the other thing i thought might have been the case...although it doesnt seem like they were trying to spy or infilitrate, they pretty much
attacked on site. They could have had their regular clothes for that :P

This doesn't follow the conversation (I don't think-- I got tired of reading the thread), but I'm waiting for the day when the Losties time travel
to the period when the O6 have returned to the island. Now that'd be fun... could that be why Sawyer sees Kate in tonight's preview?

The previews showed the beam up light blazing from the Hatch when Desmond turned on the light at Locke's banging. Season 1 finale. Kate was on Island then.

Screerider wrote: Actually, having just finished season 1, I think this is the scene where Locke is lowering Kate into the hatch and then she gets nabbed. When Locke was banging, they didn't show the beam of light like that. This means that the scream we heard in the preview could have been Kate's when she was nabbed. Of course, with plenty of screaming to go around throughout the seasons, it could be anyone's. |

I don't recall seeing any kind of light that compares to the light we see in the promo. I suppose it's a good assumption it came from the
hatch because it's a beam...
The scream doesn't necessarily have to be hatch related. I don't think that was Kate. |

I didn't hear the scream in the preview (my ears suck), but I sure makes sense if it's Kate dropping into the Hatch. Any Whispers around that time?

Nah no whispers. But judging from the preview they were pretty far away from the hatch
I just rewatched the preview. The scream and the beam of light are at different times (not that this really means anything what with editing trickery and all). But the scream doesn't sound like Kate. Could be Claire or Shannon. And the beam of light looks thinner than I remember so maybe Felicia is right and it is when the light went on when Locke was banging on the hatch (light coming through the small window vs coming through the hole of the blown off hatch), even though they didn't show a beam of light going up like that when Locke banged on the window, and they did when Kate was being lowered into the hatch. I'm still leaning towards it being at Kate being lowered into the hatch time. 5 hours or so and we will know for sure! |

I have a shitty memory. I think that was Claire screaming, too.
