Question about Luke; how deaf is he? I remember Adrian wasn't completely deaf, and he actually spoke quite a bit (even though the producers felt the need to put subtitles). Luke, as far as I can tell, didn't say anything in his interview.
If he's completely deaf and can't speak, I wonder if they'll translate the signs he makes ON the race (when his mother can't speak for him to the camera).

I really like to root them. Luke is completely deaf since birth and he has a good communication to his mother.

Luke is profoundly Deaf since birth. He does however have a cochlear implant but he never uses it. The C.I. did not work for him. Luke can't speak. I
don't remember if he can lip-read.
No idea on the translation, I was wondering myself too. I remember that one time when Christy came to NTID for a speech she told us that the CBS producers refused to provide her an intepreter. They told her that she'd have to figure how to communicate and adapt on her own. If she thinks she can't handle it, then they won't pick her to be on the show. But TAR could be an entirely different story. Im going to find out on the translation part. Some of my friends who are still in contact with Luke might know. |

TAR probably will be a different situation because they aren't stranded on a fucking island. Maybe some of the camera crew can learn basic signing?
Plus, his mom can speak.... Adrian and Luke were completely different, because Adrian could hear a little bit and could still speak. If you are completely death, it'll be all blaaaah. |

What I worry about for this team may be how Luke communicates with locals if he's on his own doing a roadblock or something. I mean, in foreign countries
where there is no common language, it'd help to be able to speak and hear still... but maybe people around the world can pick up on his signing to
understand him.
