This overanalysis of Carly and prior seasons is giving me a headache. Who cares, we can't compare prior seasons because they are over and it has no bearing on this one. So that said...

I wonder if the tards started a thread about "What are we going to do about Syesha" in those few minutes she was on top.

I must say that Carly's voice sounded beautiful in the IGB opening number. I did notice that several times she seemed to be consciously catching herself
when she started to furrow her brow, in response to Simon telling her she looked angry during "Show Must Go On." Watch the video--it's kind of
cute. She probably never realized she was doing that angry brow all of the time when singing. That said, no one will take away from my Cooktardiness, but I
rank Carly 2nd of the final 7 just because I think she seems to be a very nice, warm person with a beautiful voice she hasn't been able to showcase due to
her song choices and awkward performances. Plus I have an issue with the extensive tats. I will never, ever, understand the allure of extensive tats or extreme
piercings. I do believe Carly would get more votes if she wore sleeves. Shallow, but true, I think.

I do believe Carly would get more votes if she wore sleeves. Shallow, but true, I think.Oh yes yes yes! She's been sleeveless every time she's appeared on TV, it seems. She has an ugly Tat (it reminds me of the one Nick from BB had on his shoulder). More importantly, she's gotta get her husband to watch the show from home. Every week they put him on TV and he skeeves out 95% of America. His face is covered in tattoos and piercings -- he looks like a walking bacterial infection. People watching think: "OK she's a great singer but something must be wrong with her if that's the guy she married." |

Ooooh, I had something typed about her hubby--but decided not to go there! I agree, though. He may be the greatest, sweetest guy in the world, but he's not
going to go over too well with most of the viewers based on his looks and demeanor.

Yes, the hubby (and Carly's tattoos) are definitely costing her votes.
Like it or not, you have to appeal to Middle America to have any chance of winning. Wearing long sleeves and putting the husband in the cheap seats way in back would be a smart move. |

Well, I'm almost a week late but yay Carly! I'm so glad she survived last week. I told myself that if she survived this week I wouldn't care which
week she went after that. I'll try to keep my word but I still hope she goes far.
In a way, she's my Lakisha for this season. A wardrobe-challenged contestant I like who was very popular at first but quickly became a non-frontrunner. Lakisha defied the odds to last until the Final 4 when everyone was positive she'd be one of the two eliminated in the Final 6, and Carly has survived what many thought would be her last week. By the way, I wonder if she reads DialIdol. She seemed certain she was leaving on the results show; you could see her pointing to herself almost every time Ryan mentioned one of them was going home, and she seemed as if she'd already made peace with it or something and was joking about it, KLC-like. I don't think she'd think she was going home last week unless she had read DI. Also, poor Carly after Michael Johns was eliminated. She was bawling! Did any of you guys notice her while he was singing? Crying her eyes out. It actually looked a little funny, like that girl who cried for Sanjaya. One final thing - Carly must be one of the nicest people to ever be on this program. She really just comes off as incredibly nice and that makes her more endearing to me, because I'd like to see someone genuinely nice like that make it farther. |

I think Drew B is really on to something. KLo's problem early in the second season was not her voice or song selection, which were fine from the beginning.
It was her weight, her glasses, her hair, her unflattering clothing, her absence of any fashion sense whatsoever and general lack of stage presence. Does all
this sound strangely familiar? Substitute the constantly uncovered tattooed arm for the glasses and weight and you have Carly.
But for Carly to have any chance to match or surpass KLo, she needs to do what KLo did--dress better, get a better hairstyle, and show star presence on stage. And she MUST cover up that tattoo once in a while. If she insists on making AI a referendum on Tattoos, she will soon be gone. It's very simple. Most people who don't have tattoos think they are distasteful or utterly disgusting. I think the comments about the second season not being competitive are nonsense, though. It was one of Idol's best seasons. Josh was outstanding when he sang country. KimberME's personality got everybody pisssed but she had a very good voice as well. Getting past them and Trenyce to finish 3rd wasn't easy at all. And KLo's absolutely right when she says on Idol Rewind that she was simply not going to get past Reuben or Clay. They were just too good and/or popular. I don't know of anybody who was watching at the time who thought she had any chance of making the finale. A final comment I can't pass up: I'd love to see a photochop where KLo is wearing a shirt that says 205 lbs. And standing next to her is Reuben, wearing a shirt that says 205 kg. |

She seems like a genuine sweetheart and means well, she unfortunately has a past that makes people look past that. The tattoos and her husband's tattoos probably make shallow people completely ignore her personality and think she's repulsive, which is so dayum stupid. <3 Carly <3 |

Carly seems very down on herself and I do think she genuinely thought she was toast this week. As for her tattoo and her husband the more I think about it the less I think it's costing her votes. Perhaps I just have too much faith in humanity but I can't see too many people being so turned off by her tattoos or her husbands tattoos on a reality TV competition that they wouldn't vote for her. Maybe I'm naive though and people are that shallow and it's costing her big time. |

So a guy who worked with Carly and helped her get her deal with MCA is speaking out now and blaming Carly's failure on her and saying he dropped her
because he knew she'd failed.
Idol's Carly 'to blame for first album flop' Having listened to the album this just seems like some bullshit excuse to cover his own ass. The album is very Pop and doesn't sound anything at all like Rock. I'm sure he knows pretty much no one has heard the album so they'll believe this and not recognize that she didn't go in a Rock direction at all with the material on the album. Kind of sounds like a douche bag to me, blaming the failure of a major label album on a 15 year old girl. He could have at least made up a believable excuse. I was ready to read about what Carly did that would make the flop entirely her fault but I didn't buy it as soon as he said he thought she should go in a Pop direction and she went Rock instead. |

I'm confused as to why anybody thinks they KNOW what she's like. She might be nice. She might not be nice. We DON'T KNOW based on a few minutes per week of what she wants us to see. I don't think it's any more shallow to dislike her for tattoos than to like her for [insert whatever reason one has for liking her]. She is presenting a package and we are evaluating that package. The tattoos and the clothing are part of that package. There is nothing wrong with judging her on that basis... |

Carly is under the mistaken impression that she's Ann Wilson. Therein lies the problem. She's not.I think once you get past your hostility, you'll see that she actually does have star potential. She keeps coming into contact with people who recognize it. The problem is that so far nobody's figured out how to hraness that appeal or present her. AI is not doing a great job, so it's reasonable enough to say she's hanging on despite them. (Unless, of course, you subcribe to the "Carly OMG Irish Plant Bitch!!!!111ONE11!!!" theory. The only problem with that theory is that they're nearly all "plants.") |

I'm just going to ignore Drew B's posts about Carly from now on, clearly they're never going to get past their hostility. They're hate is not
even light and fun like most other people on this board in regards to who they don't want to see win.

-giggle- There wasn't even anything vaguely hostile in that last post. I said she may be nice or she may not be, but we can't know from seeing what we see. I'll say the exact same about EVERY Idol contestant, including ones I consider to be way more talented than Carly. That's the thing, though. I don't hate Carly. Personally, I'm indifferent to her. I hated Gina -- that looks very different... I just don't think Carly is particularly GOOD, so I resent being told over and over that she is one of the best in this group by the judges and the media. I simply don't agree... |
