Without a certain amount of praise though the voters are apparently deaf and can't hear for themselves who can actually sing and who can't. The way the voting has been going it seems they need the judges approval to like someone and will dislike people based on judge critique.The judges gave Kristy much more criticism than praise all three semifinal weeks. If anything helped her I think the pre-top 24 airtime and her being one of the only white Southern girls helped her. Alaina was given praise both weeks she was there, up to being called "the dark horse", and she still left.
Kristy is a perfect example of his. She sucks, she has no personality but since the judges praised her semi performances she got enough votes to make the Top 12.
I'm not saying the judges should tell Carly she sucks. I'm just saying they should avoid going too heavy, because people hold that against her, not against them. Bringing up Kelly Clarkson was pointless.
