WHY does posting codes now eat whatever the hell I write underneath?

Anyway, her album is a mix of Gospel/Christian/Insperational/R&B and it's clear she was heavily influenced by Mary Mary what with her doing a cover of one of their songs..

Only the World, I like this song and it's very catchy to me but it's pretty much "Don't worry about how much the world sucks since we know Heaven is coming and it's going to be E-X-L-L-E-N-T!" but the song is a fast song.

True Beauty, Again, I like it, it's another catchy song and the words flow well. However, this is her Fat Girl/Beauty on the Inside Anthem so many would probably sign off on it.

God Speaking, if you can get into this song you'll like it. However it is a bit slow and it's entirely a God Love song but again, if you can get about half way through it ends really well. It is not a song you could put on repeat.

Voice of a Savior, another Jesus song. Pretty much there's a pattern that Mandisa takes a while to get into some of these inspirationally Christianly songs but really hits her stride in the middle of the song.

Love Somebody, at this point she decides to take a break about loving Jesus and singing about him and this is a more general "Look Past Differences and Love Anybody." but she starts fast and keeps the speed up to the end. I also love "Diverse City"

Unrestrained, however after that fast song, Mandisa decides to go back to God just in case He forgot how much she loves him. This song is JUST her singing to God. Directly to Him. It's a nice view of how much she's really committed to God.

Shackles/Praise You, this is the song from Idol that she prefaced with her "lifestyles" comment. You know the one. This is also the song that she covered Mary Mary. This is the type of song that Mandisa should do more of (and all of her good songs really do fall under this style). What is interesting is that I like this version better than the original. Maybe because she goes a bit stronger with the vocals and arrangement.

Steal My Joy, I pretty much think that the songs where she clearly obviously hints about religion and God are better versus the songs where she just goes out and screams about Jesus/God/Savior. This one is basically "Fuck the world, it can NOT steal the Joy I have in/from God" but she only says God once. It's also good and catchy.

Oh My Lord, Yep, remember when I was talking about how much of the song directly talking about God is proportional to it being good? Well this is a bad one and the song is very repetitious and it just

Only You, this song is scary. It's like Mandisa loves God, in a sexual way. I just pretend she's not talking to God and it's a nice love song.

He Will Come,

I never got around to writing anything for He Will Come because it's like the 30th song about God/Jesus/The Lamb and since it's at the end, you are so dead to God that you will skip it.

I mean, it's got some nice lyrics and Mandisa has some nice vocals on some of the lines but I feel they should have gone crazy on it, whip out a gospel choir, a lot of violins, and make it more up beat. Something to spice it up because as the last long, I'm pretty much over this. I get it, you love Jesus, now I'm going to listen to Satanic music for balance.

Love Somebody was a very weird song because it's the only one with a rap and Mandisa just doesn't seem like she'd even give a fuck about rap but apparently the people she duets love God almost as much as her so I guess in her mind she was okay with it and I bet they are the ones who produced the song and made it interesting. And at least it's not... Luducris's rap on Boomie's Pocketbook.
