Apparently it is a huge priority for Sony BMG and it is going to be given a bigger budget than the debut and will not be rushed the way the debut was. Also the genre for the new disc will be mid-80s to mid-90s covers. YD said they've done the mirrorball thing and loved it but now they want to focus on another era of pop music. I'm personally delighted to hear that they will be doing covers again, and 80s-90s ones at that.

In fact, Jessica Mauboy is too young to sing the kind of songs Young Divas have been singing, and Lavina is too mature. Another favourite of mine is Anne from season 3, but her voice is too similar to Paulini. The only girl I can think of who is physically similar to Ricki Lee, white and not blonde, is Cosima.

Apparently they looked through tons of potential new Young Divas. I'm guessing they'll go with a white brunette to fill Ricki-Lee's place. Personally if I had to pick an Aussie Idol chick that would fit I'd pick Haley Jensen.

Rickie-Lee I did like during her performances on Idol, but post Idol, meh. Hayley Jensen's new single "Stronger" kicks all kinds of ass. Another winner from AusIdol stable of songs. I love that they are doing covers again, and it would be cool if they gave it a push for a US release. I think her fans petitioned Sony BMG to sign her b/c Kate sucks and she should have won or something and that never materialized and then she just joined the Young Divas.

The music on the first one is quite good. It's a shame people don't like her, I really can't fathom why. Oh and "Famous for Leaving" is bar none the best song released by any Idol contestant EVER.

Firstly, she was labeled as the "Aussie dag" (girls who wear rugby jumpers all the time, are anti slim-fit clothes), which many white Aussie girls can relate to. Oh, and she's kinda "fat" too Her toughest competitors, Anne and Emily, are ghetto church girls which many white Aussie girls obviously cannot relate to. Another way of looking at this is, Kate came into the competition as a good singer. There were about 7 other contestants that came into the competition as great singers (Natalie Zahra, Emily, Anne, Roxanne, Milly, Dan England, etc). However, those 7 great singers choked and crumbled as the competition progressed, while Kate maintained her composure and continued to be a good singer til the end of the competition.

The next day, Ricky made an appearance on Rove (Aussie's David Letterman/JayLeno) and was asked how she thought about Kate winning instead of Emily. Ricky specifically said "well, the best singers never won." So I'm sure at the moment she's thinking she sings the best so doesnt deserve to have a group career. I mean Paulini also has a solo career but doesnt mean she has to quit YD

I disagree that a few of them were "great". Hell, a few are totally forgettable. Roxanne was one of the worst singers that season, nowhere near Kate's vocal ability. I did read a bio of Kate, and while she didn't do nearly as well as previous winners, her CD, and 2 singles went top 10. And that's supposedly working on a 2nd CD. But that info was on Wikipedia, so who knows.
