How have the Young Divas done commercially? I love that in Australia and Canada, some of the female singers team up for groups. I'm surprised no one has tried this in the US Idol (I think Leah and Camille would have been better in a group than on their own).

Even if it's not a shock, I still give Anthony Callea credit for coming out. Some people in the business wait until they're 80 years old and act like they're the bravest person in the world. I know Australia is not quite as reactionary as the US, but still, it's a big step for a young male singer to come out.

SHC, thank you so much for posting that Damien "Cryin'" link in the best Idol performances thread. I've listened to it again and again. That is an almost impossible song to cover. kd lang did a bang-up job, and Carrie Underwood was fine, but Damien does Roy proud. That falsetto is exquisite. I watched some of last season's Australian Idol but started to lose track around midseason, so most of this I don't remember.

I'm glad the Young Divas have had success. I know in Canada the girl group (Braided) did not.
