I totally agree. That's why I always find it perplexing when people say "This isn't what I signed on for". What exactly did you sign on for? A three hour tour? ;-) Not time travel. Back in the day, I actually believed the stuff they told us. Ha! Silly me. |

Iku wrote: That site is kind of funny, but probably not even in the top 100 list of best sites everrr. And why are you surprised that people posting in a Lost forum are fans of the show? This was particularly funny: I'm glad the ratings for the premiere were down 26% from last year's premiere. It's a positive sign and hopefully just another big step in the road of cancellation.

Iku wrote:Yeah I don't get hating on a show you watch. Critiquing? Sure? Trashing? Not so much. And if you're so insistent on staying in whatever rigid parameters you set for the show in season ONE well maybe serialized storytelling isn't for you. I'd rather a show that evolves especially one that's been evolving under the same exec producers since Day 1. I'm pretty sure they aren't retconning anything. |

I agree with many of the posts here. In the first season when the show was about polar bears in the jungle, giant mechanical sounding monsters, randomly
appearing ghosts and miracle healings, I never dreamt that it might get all "fictiony" later down the line!

I thought the time travel aspect would bother me because 9 times out of 10 it's a simple copout to solve things that were previously unsolveable, but Lost
has established rules for itself and that makes me appreciate it: you can't change what already happened. So they're not gonna go back and not get on
the plane. Or save Boone or Shannon or Libby or Ana Lucia or Eko or Charlie. It is what it is. The rules are clear and I am on board with them.

No kidding. I could see if Season 1 was CSI: LITTLE ISLAND. Seriously, how did people think "homicidal black smoke" was going to end? Maybe the narrator from PUSHING DAISIES could end every episode of LOST with a "The facts were these...." |

Season 2 starts with Desmond in the hatch.. definitely a WTF moment!
Season 3 starts with Juliet in an urban setting... we find she's on the island... another pretty good moment. Season 4 starts with oranges... Hurley drives through them... ok. Season 5... oh... who is that person... surely this is a huge angle... the plotline with go off the rail... all fans will freak.... The Dharma guy? The writers have lost whatever it was they had. take care. |

Good point, smoke monster (that we only saw a teensy bit of at the end of season 1) obviously = time travel. We all should have known then. |

I'm sorry. I forgot that there were a million rational explanations for weird shit that was established early in season 1. I guess some people were
expecting scientists to use LOST to publicize new breakthroughs in science; breakthroughs so revolutionary that they would turn general scientific knowledge on
its ass (because clearly there just HAD to be a rational explanation for the smoke monster - just one of many weird things on the show).
Gee, With all the common science fiction devices that were speculated about in the beginning (aliens, robots, it's all a dream), did time travel never cross your mind? If time travel is such a dealbreaker, how did you manage to sit all the way through season 4 when time travel was an active plot device in season 3. TV can't be GREY'S ANATOMY all the time. |

Oh if only! :P
Yeah I don't get why time travel is such an issue for people. More than other explanation devices despite the fact that the show has shown that they can do a decent job using it (a la S3 & S4's Desmond eps). |

And I don't see why some people seem to have such a problem with people not being fans of time travel. Christ, i never said it was a deal breaker or
anything of the sort, just that I'm not a fan of it. I've not once said I hate the show now or that I'm not watching anymore, just that I'm
not a big fan of time travel. So unbunch your damn panties.

cindidindi76 wrote: How dare you!? I don't wear panties! I think it's just the complaining itself that's... perplexing. And not so much in your case. You're just not a fan. Some people however are all "Time travel? WTF?! Jump the shark! Shark Jumping! I call you Shark Jumper MD!" It's not like it's a complete genre shift. If this happened on let's say "Law & Order" I could see the complaints since the show
is a completely different animal. But in a show with smoke monsters, magnetic energy releasing hatches, vision quests and 4-toed statues you shouldn't
really be crying foul (not that YOU were).

"Time travel? WTF?! Jump the shark! Shark Jumping! I call you Shark Jumper MD!" I for one am hoping for Ted McGinley in season 6! |

I knew you'd get that reference :)
Ted would be awesome as a Dharma hipster. He can be the island ladies man. |
