What happened to the writers who did Locke & Sawyer's episodes in season 1?
That shit was brilliant.
The old Lost ain't around no more.

I'm not a fan of time travel but I loved episode one.
The writing for Sawyer in this one episode was better than most of all of last season. Son of a ... *white light*... bitch. Now that's brilliant! |

I don't know if I'd call crafting one of the most complex, multi-genre serialized shows of all time "falling back".

I still can't stand Locke.

I partly agree with this... I don't think Lost has gotten better, it's only gotten worse from the first few seasons... I'm probably biased because
I HATE the time travel stuff, I know Lost was never supposed to be that believable but I think the show would have a lot more potential if they didn't rely
on time travel. I'm still going to watch it of course, it's still a great show, but I'm not happy with the way it went.

It's gotten worse but it's still really good. And it's almost over so I'm cutting it a little extra slack for that. Whenever you have to wrap
up a show like this with so many different things going on/unanswered questions there's bound to be some dissatisfaction.

I actually think it's pretty good right now.

I think how much you love/not love the show right now will be in direct proportion to how much you love/hate time travel. I realize it's a sci-fi geeks wet
dream, but....meh.

I really dug the finale and while it left open-ended questions as to the folks coming for the rescue, I can live with that ambiguity. The flash forward fade to black, Hurley in the van playing the Calvary, Sawyer killing Mr. Friendly, Charlie's sacrifice storyline, Danielle and Alex reunion, Walt and Locke, "The rescue"... I read about the time travel-centric nature of this season and while I tried to get excited about it, the premiere commercials had me almost dreading the fact that I'd be tied to the show for the next 16 weeks. |

Glad to see other people feel the same way I do. Season 1 > all! Sad that the show spiralled into this convoluted, time-traveling dreck.

If I thought it was that bad, I'd quit watching.. but that's just me. I wouldn't keep watching and bitch at every turn. Waste of time.
I'm too lazy for that.

That's the thing... we don't think it's bad at all... we just prefer the old more realistic ways of Lost. I
still love this show as much as before but I could just relate to the show more because because of that realism it had. I hope the next 3 seasons turn out good
though, there's no way I'd ever stop watching this show.

Iku wrote:Lol, maybe you would have been satisfied if the show ended after season 1 so they didnt have to explain anything that was going on... but i personally am loving the explanantion episodes! :) We still get some great character drama nuggest here in there still...while not as consistently those kinds of episodes as season 1...i would put up later season's individual episodes against individual ones from season 1 any day for comparison. There have been great character drama episodes since season 1 that beat out any of them individually. :) |

sadly, i agree. the writing has gotten worse. early lost was all about dialogue and dramatic perfection, now i feel like they all talk faster so we can have
the next gunshot or explosion right away

Well of course the later episodes are gonna be different from the earlier ones. The first season was about introducing the characters and fleshing them out,
showing us a bit of their backgrounds and where they're coming from. The later episodes have a different focus because the story has to move along and fill
in information to answer the questions it has raised throughout the other seasons. So, I feel like Lost is just as good now, if not better, as it was in Season
1. The focus is just different now. It has to be.

I look at it this way. If everyone who noticed a decline in quality and story lines in season 2 stopped watching, then none of us would really be here
debating this right now and the show would have been cancelled before season 3 even started. I'm glad I stuck with it, and agree that many of the
individual character episodes last year were just as good if not better than earlier seasons. Regardless of fluctuations in quality (and opinions, for that
matter), I'm just happy to see any episode that is better than most of the dreck on the 999 channels that come through the satellite dish every day. And,
in terms of credibility, I don't see this time travel stuff as being too much different than the notion of people surviving the plane crash or being cured
of cancer and paralysis on the island or electromagnetic anomalies that threaten the earth or seeing dead people or . . . [insert additional season one
references to sci-fi related suspension of credibility].
