The song didn't suck but he was too emotionally invested in it. He needs to step back and make better choices. With this cancer stuff and all the stress
of being on the show, he doesn't need to bring himself down like this.
I say he's safe, and no seal. |

No, Simon said pompous. Hubby said indulgent which is a better way to describe it.

Well, he should have used it this time instead of pompous.

I was actually expecting Simon to call it self indulgent too. He said it was a little bit and then he paused and I was like the fucker is about to say self
indulgent but he said pompus which was even worse and more inaccurate.
There hasn't been any actual evidence that David C is arrogant or smug or pompus, I'm actually starting to wonder why Papa Archuleta threatened Simon with to get him to make the audience believe that Cook is an arrogant fucker. I'm not usually a conspiracy theorist but it's way too suspicious that anyone who could be a threat to Archuleta is getting panned by the judges for random shit. Carly who is a better singer than Archie technically is getting comments about her looks thrown at her from Simon and he hasn't really commented on her vocals in weeks. Going back to "Total Eclipse" he talked about how she was tense and didn't talk about the vocal, or with "Blackbird" when he talked about song choice rather than her vocal. Paula has always given her praise for her vocal, and Randy has also but Simon the one who people actually listening to hasn't really commented on her singing since Top 12 week or semis. David Cook who is a threat to Archuleta winning is constantly being panned by Simon for his attitude which to me is non-existent and is being constructed by Simon's comments on him. Jason got praise from Simon last night mostly likely because he would have only drummed up more support for Jason by dissing him after that performance. When the judges were on LKL the other night though they had nothing but venom for Jason who is a contender to take fangirl votes away from Archuleta. The judges don't give a shit about praising Kristy Lee Cook on a job well done because she doesn't threaten Archuleta. |

I actually expected the indulgent tag once I checked out David's song choice on youtube. Of course Simon had to go one better and throw in pompous instead.
That is one thing that really irritates me. Simon called Daughtry indulgent a couple of times, but never smug or pompous. Yet Egghead was far more smug than David's ever been. Just because Daughtry was TCO, he didn't get the arrogant arsehole edit they are oh-so-subtly saddling David with. And the sheep are just lapping it up. |

I just gave it a re-listen because usually I'm a bit more objective on Wednesday. Maybe it's the lack of kid noise, but I digress.

It was just an odd song to pick, especially with the weird low notes. Usually, it's the high notes people struggle with belting, but David doesn't really have that problem. I really think that's what confused a lot of people. It's weird when guys suck at the low notes, but it happens a lot when girls try them. Madonna is pretty good at the low notes. Just randomly throwing that out there. |

It seems that whenever David has a good week, Jason goes down in the votes. And when Jason has a good week, David loses votes.
Whichever one of them gets booted first, the other person should pick up quite a few votes. |

You almost have to wonder if he even real cares about Idol that much at this point. He's gonna go on to big things and he's already had all of the
exposure a struggling artist could hope for. One less Kids Incorporated styled medley is not necessarily a bad thing for Rock star cred, is it?

I don't think David sucks at low notes necessarily - I think it's more a case of him trying too hard to ape Raine of OLP, as Roach stated. David
really has a much better voice so it probably would have worked out more had he just infused his own style.
Maybe he'll just land in the B3 for an "intervention" ala Bo in Season 4. My own 8th place curse seems to skip every other season and this is my season due for a boot, unfortunately. But I also never, ever favor the people Simon favors so maybe this season will turn over a new leaf. *keeping Cooktard dialing digits crossed*
Haven't they initiated more of a stranglehold for the non-winners/runner-ups now though? Probably due in part to the success of the also-rans that they didn't sign. (Elliot, Bucky, etc.) |

I have a 3rd place curse going on so perhaps Cook will be the one to fulfill that this season.

Last years also-rans didn't do shit, so I guess we can expect big things from at least a few out of this crop. I'm sure TPTB want a huge chunk of
that pie.
I still believe that intentions were originally for Carly to take Kelly's place (ever since she really became Ms. Independent) and Syesha was the
down-lo chosen one, meant to be more marketable than Fantasia, who has become quite trashy recently.
If dumbass Michael Johns would stop trying to play Rock God, he could be their more marketable Taylor Hicks.

I have a 3rd place curse going on so perhaps Cook will be the one to fulfill that this season. 3rd wouldn't be so bad . . . he'd be in it all the way up to the final performance show and would get to avoid the piece of shit coronation song and the slavish contract. Probably ideal. Still, part of me would like my favorite to win this shit for once. 8th place is fucking unacceptable though - he's way too good to go out that early, bum performance or not. |

David Cook's hand thing he did was lame. Paula gave him props. For what? Grabbing a sharpy? Whoop de do.
