Damn, that just wasn't very good at all. I would love to hear the David Cook rendition.

He's already got enough exposure to get a record deal. He knows he could go out tomorrow and be in the recording studios by May.
Only 2 winners have actually done something so it's not like winning is going to advance his career. Why win and sing some shitty song when this guy has balls on talent and all of America is now aware of it? |

Fair enough, but I'd still like to see him make final 4 at least.
You've got to wonder how much the stress of the past few weeks has affected him. He's starting to look like Michael Johns did a few weeks ago - dejected, tired, worn out. But Michael rebounded, so hopefully David can do the same. |

SurvivorFanGP wrote: That would be exciting. I love the drama. You could kind of see in David's face during the critique that he knew he sucked. It must be embarrassing to have Simon call you out as being pompous in front of millions of people. Someone probably told him what the judges said about him on LKL, and he let it go to his head. His studio version will probably be a lot better. |

Yeah, I said in the other thread that David might have started believing his own hype a bit too much.
Maybe this is what he needs to get back to basics and forget about the hype for a while. |

He was too smug and arrogant tonight. the whole writing on the hand was a bit much.. he is going down the Daughtry road which well paid off so good for him

I agree, I didn't like the writing on the hand, maybe if it were sincere, but on a voting show these things come across as desperation.
Still love him, and while he did bad, so did pretty much everyone else, with the exception of a few. |

maybe if it were sincereI actually thought it was very sincere. He seems like someone that really cares about reaching out to others and giving back. |

It could be. I don't see where Simon thinks his performances are pompous, maybe overly confident sometimes, but he's acting like Cook's a raging
asshole.
I did laugh when the camera panned to Cook's hand though, and you could see Simon laughing in the background. |

If anyone on the show is a raging asshole it's Brooke.

I thought it was sincere too. I really don't get Simon calling his performance pompous. I think he'll make it through this week, even though he
wasn't good, and come back. It may be better for him long term in a way to have these little stumbles.

I didn't get the smug asshole vibe from him either. He seemed broken, or completely checked out.

While she wishes she
Was a dancer And that she'd never Heard of cancer She wishes God would give her Some answers And make her feel beautiful Those lyrics probably tore the guy up... then to get railed for it and called pompous... |

If you noticed how his voice changed when he started the line about cancer you could tell he felt the lyrics. Even if it wasn't his best performance
it's a powerful song lyrically, it fit the theme perfectly and he got to do a song by his favourite band.
These are the full lyrics for anyone who doesn't know the song: Oh, johnny wishes he was famous Spends his time alone in the basement With lennon and cobain and A guitar and a stereo And while he wishes he could escape this But it all seems so contagious Not to be yourself and faceless And a song that has no soul I remember feeling low I remember losing hope And I remember all the feelings and the day they stopped We are, we are all innocent We are all innocent We are, we are... We are, we are all innocent We are all innocent We are, we are... Oh, I dreamed of losing faith and what she knows And some music hits on the foreclose Thinks of surgery and a new nose And the galleries of war And while she wishes she was a dancer And that shed never heard of cancer She wishes God would give her some answers And make her feel beautiful I remember feeling low I remember losing hope I remember all the feelings and the day they stopped We are, we are all innocent We are all innocent We are, we are... We are, we are all innocent We are all innocent We are, we are... One day, youll have to let it go Youll have to let it go No... One day, youll stand up on your own Youll stand up on your own Remember losing hope Remember feeling low Remember all the feelings and the day they stopped We are, we are all innocent We are all innocent We are, we are... We are, we are all innocent We are all innocent We are, we are... We are (one day), we are all innocent We are all innocent (youll have to let it go) We are, we are (youll have to let it go, no..) We are (one day), we are all innocent We are, we are (youll stand up on your own) We are, we are all innocent (youll stand up on your own..) We are, we are all innocent I can't wait to hear the studio. I think it may move me to #$*@!. |

He was off his game tonight. I didn't care much for the song, though I get why he picked it. He should have performed Angels instead. The song is much
more convincing when sung by a grown man who's gone through some things in life.
