I'm trying not to get my hopes up, so that I won't be disappointed if it doesn't happen. But for now I'm going to join meme in that land where Cook wins. When you look at the whole season (regardless of what you believe about last night - and I thought he won it anyway) he deserves to be the winner.

What better way to end the conspiracy theories, though, than by handing the night to Archie in what appears as the unofficial coronation of TCO, only to have Cookie win the thing, proving that the votes, not manipulation, actually determines the outcome. Perhaps they knew (or suspected) that the votes were so heavily Cook-sided that it would take a miracle for Archuletta to overtake him, so what better way to send off the kid than with his best night (which it was) and the overpraise (which it was). In the meantime (as I'm remembering Simon admonishing Cookie back in the semi-finals about how he knows how the show works) they know that the overpraise, combined with the Greyhound, would light a significant fire under a lot of butts, getting people to the phones who might ordinarily just skip it. Because, if they've been paying attention, everyone knows that people vote in stronger numbers out of defense than out of support oftentimes. I can't count the number of Jason/MJ/Carly fans I saw last night voting against the judges even after they swore they wouldn't bother. Forgive my moment of tinfoil hat syndrome, but it's an interesting scenario. On one night the innocent little kid realizes his dream with a winning night, and on the second night the producers get their winner. (At least if this report is true.) And if it pans out that way, which I more than halfway expect it to, it will make for days of discussion rather than simply tomorrow's news.

Last night was the first time EVER that I voted for almost the entire 4 hours.

Think about the Idol headlines tomorrow if Cook pulls off the upset?? It will be huge. If Porkchop wins, it will be an eh.....what do you expect? kind of moment.

I, for one, was only voting for the 2nd time ever in the entire run of the American Idol franchise. And I voted the full 4 hours and put in at least 400 votes.

I rarely ever vote (most seasons I don't even make it this far into the show), but I voted for four hours straight last night. And I only planned to vote for two. Then I saw the show. A friend's 70 something year old mother is a big Archie fan but she goes to bed each night at around 8:30pm CST. So add all the grannies to all his tweens with schoolnight bedtimes and you have a lot of Archie voters who didn't make it past the 2nd hour of voting. And last night was the most I've ever voted, well into hour 3. I would have made it to hour 4 if I didn't have an early morning meeting at work today.

Personally, I only voted a couple times on final 8 and final 4 and powervoted the last 2. I really missed the personalized message. I wanted Cookie's recorded voice to thank me personally for being such a fucking fantard. I also seem to have gained a folder full of pics somewhere along the way last night. As cheesy as it sounds I feel like pretty much every season the true talent hasn't prevailed and it's been about popularity, gimmicks and manipulation. I want Cook to win for himself and for Tamyra, Clay (it hurts me to say that), Diana, Elliott and Melinda. 205 shirts, grey hair, spastic "dance" moves, no neck, beat boxing, shocker boot be fucking damned to hell. However due to the fact that at heart I'm still that 13 year old fangirl who cries who her favourite loses I can't get my hopes up to high. I have to accept that there's a high possibility the predictable and inevitable will happen or I'm old setting myself up for a lot of disappointment tonight. He's a winner either way and he'll get a contract but I want to see him win so I can't convince myself he will or else crashing down when he doesn't is gonna hurt bad.

She said "it's not the winning song" after Cook's performance of "Dream Big" and apparently she spilled the beans. The winner of the contest apparently does get to be the winner's single, it's "Time of My Life" apparently and that is the one the winner will record and sing tonight when they are crowned. I can't believe neither picked "No Turning Back" or that it didn't win the contest.

I wanted Cookie's recorded voice to thank me personally for being such a fucking fantard. Yeah, no shit. We wuz robbed! I voted much more than I care to say in a public forum. I probably wouldn't have had the commentary been more positive. So there's something to be said for the whole "riling up" theory. I didn't notice the wink - I was too busy wishing festering boils upon Randy. I do think that whether it was intentional or not, Simon did do Cooktard a favor by allowing him to justify his song choice. Although I really should be repeatedly hit in the face with a shovel for even caring but whatevah. I still think Archtard is going to win - sorry fellow Cooktards. Hopefully I'm wrong.
