I've read theories and speculation that 19, and/or Joanna on her own, struck a behind the scenes deal with Geffen........that they would 'drop' her
so that she could be eligible for American Idol.
After listening to and watching the videos, I have to say, she sounded incredible as Annie, and she still has a very nice belt. Her lower and mid range are very weak though-I've heard better in high school choral groups. Her nose as a youngster was very wide and flat, and now appears narrower with a projected tip and feminine shape. Rhinoplasty for singers is always a crapshoot, because it can change elements of how the voice sounds. If she had one, she sure went from a rather plain child to a beauty, so maybe it was worth it. She still has a nice big belt. Her voice overall though, isn't very good.....but you could say that about quite a few female popstars
