I noticed that the full name of his Star Trek character was Khan Noonien Sing. This bears a striking resemblance to Noonian Soong, who created Data the android.
What is the connection between these two characters??????

Due to the recent death of Ricardo Montalban, I was forced to look him up on Wikipedia.

Khan Noonien SingSingh. yw. There isn't any connection between the characters other than remarkably similar names. |

Why didnt the Borg simply use their nuclear capacities to destroy the enterprise?

So Jit's vagina gets wet for nasty, crusty old men who smell like stale cigars and whiskey?
You'd think she'd like me in that case, but I guess without the whiskey stench it's a no-go. |

I don't think Q would have ever let that happen since he was controling the whole thing, but remember the Borg were regenerating while Riker and the guys were over there and they weren't in attack mode. As soon as Picard heard they were regenerating he beamed those guys back and took off at warp 9... |

Khan is an Augment, Augments were created in part by Arik Soong. At the end of a Star Trek Enterprise episode Arik Soong says he is going to go into robotics.
The Star Trek Wiki has this little blurb:

Just so we're clear here...Arik Soong and Kahn Noonien Singh are two different characters. Don't confuse the issue.

Gene Roddenberry had a war buddy named Kim Noonien Singh. He named Khan after him to see if he could find the man he lost contact with. Noonien Soong was named
for the same reason. That's the real-life reason...no canon reason exists although since we learn Noonien Soong's ancestor Arik reorganized the
Augments we can presume that his family was proud of his accomplishments and named their descendants after him (remember though that Khan was around 200 years
before Arik Soong. He didn't invent Augments, he just brought them back to life). Presumably human society has progressed to the point where naming a kid
after a brutal warlord doesn't preclude them from getting personalized cakes for their birthday.
Nuclear weapons were not particularly useful against shields in the 24th century. The Borg had much more powerful weapons at their disposal. |
