I just looked at my calender, and actually 14th is a wednesday, so i'm sure it'll be released on the 15th. WAIT AND SEE Y'ALL. ANY NEW SPOILERS?

It's always roughly a month before, but the day of the week has always varied: Last season, the cast was released on Wednesday, August 27. For Micronesia, it was released Thursday, January 3. For China, it was released Monday, August 20. For Fiji, it was Friday, January 12. Cook Islands was Thursday, August 23. Exile Island was Monday, January 9. And so on. So there is no real established pattern of what day it will be.

Well today I found out that an old band conductor of mine took part in it! It is really exciting knowing this, because I know how long he lasted. I can't say really anything, because even he is still not allowed to directly say he was apart of the show, but he said the last two months he was gone, he was in Brazil, and was there for __ amount of days. I won't say because that would give away his place, but it's extremely exciting! So now time to get his autograph... haha.

There's an obvious logical flaw with this story, which doesn't invalidate it but bears looking at. Okay, suppose this band conducter really was on Survivor (and that this isn't a made up story to get attention, and that it also isn't a misunderstanding about someone who went to Brazil for another reason.) Fine. So he says "I was just in Brazil doing Survivor for" - we'll say - "36 days." Well they go there almost a week in advance and leave two days after the filming wraps, and if they get voted out they still have to stay for the whole time. The fact that Patrick hasn't thought this through either means he's a crummy liar or that he was so excited that he posted five minutes after he found out. But what it doesn't infer to me at all if he is on this show that this counts as much of a game spoiler. Which I'm fine with because I'd prefer to see contestant spoilers and miss game spoilers. I'm just pointing out that if there are already holes in this story it may not be totally on the level. The other question I'd have is how much can we assume Daniel Bleu knows? Would he know if the band conducter was on the show or not? Like, if Survivor Fever officially posts somebody it's safe to say they're on the show (which is why I'm confident about Debb but skeptical about Brendan.) Or would Daniel Bleu forward along anybody who claimed to know anything whether they were full of shit or not?

Posts: 823 (01/07/09 12:30 PM) Registered User More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Besides, this Patrick guy feels like it would be a breach of confidence to say how long the band conducter lasted but he doesn't feel like it would be a breach of confidence to say he's on the cast and he goes really far? That seems like a paper thin moral stance to take. Again that makes it sound like someone trying to be coy and get attention rather than someone who cares about this guy and doesn't want to see him get in trouble. If the band conducter is real he's already going to be in trouble as of this morning for telling former students that he was on and how he well he did. So he's already going to be on this Patrick kid for selling him out in five minutes flat. I dunno. It could be true. I just think this is pretty sketchy.

Posts: 2302 (01/07/09 2:21 PM) Registered User More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Not saying if this Patrick guy is legit or not, but it does seem rather shady that he doesn't want to give out too much info on this guy since he's not allowed to talk about his participation in the show yet, but then he goes ahead and identifies him as an old band conductor. Unless there's some new shocking twist this season where all the contestants are band conductors, then I would think this Patrick dude pretty much ID'd the guy to the production people (or whoever it is that would care about a contestant talking about the show before they're supposed too). If Patrick's info is for real, then he's either a dumbass or he truly just doesn't care if he gets this guy in trouble.

Dani's had some rock solid information in the past Can't say whether it's valid or not yet, but the fact that Dani posted it.....lends a little more credibility to it And specific info about cast members has been source-leaked lots and lots and lots and lots of times before! It's kinda why this thread exists

And I'm well aware of that last fact but I'm also aware that people start fake casting rumors, or ones that simply don't pan out, every season since Africa. How about our Native American pro golfer J.R. Ghosthorse last season, for example? This thread is just as much about sorting out fact from fiction as it is about simply reporting the facts.

I am SO excited right now!!! I'm a screenwriting student at USC and last year I was in an MFA class with a guy who mentioned he'd applied for Survivor and gotten an initial call back. I was excited at the time but I kind of forgot about it until today. As soon as he walked in I saw that he'd lost a lot of weight in the face and had a deep tan. I wrote him a note and asked him whether he'd ever heard back about Survivor. He wrote back "Nope, sorry." But I could tell from his smirk that he was lying. So I wrote "Would you tell me if you had?" and he wrote back "Of course not" and we both laughed. I'm about as sure as I can be that he was on the show and I am SO freaking jazzed about it. It looks to me like he did well. I guess we'll find out soon enough. Wow, Stranded. Cast spoilers are just busting out all over the place today. First this Patrick guy and now me. We'll have the whole cast list by dinner at this rate.

Also note that Patrick was at Lassen High of Susanville, CA until last year. So perhaps the conductor is a music teacher at Lassen.

Take a deep breath - I think both Stranded and I were responding to JoeJoe's questioning of source spoilers, because it "gets this guy in trouble" That's how it works...somebody knows somebody, and they think they might have been cast. They give us a little bit of info, but not everything. Then, hopefully, corroborating info is found and the person is confirmed as being on the show This season has already been filmed, so it's not like he can be removed from the cast at this point. And the cast member has no control over the things that casual acquaintances (or people even closer) may say on anonymous message boards There was a time when the sourced cast spoilers would come rolling in as soon as filming started, and we'd have half or more of the cast spoiled by the time filming was done. These days...it's a lot quieter Sad really, becaue cast spoiling was always the most fun. Getting to "know" our cast before we meet them onscreen is a blast

Olmec Donald makes a really good observation along traditional cast spoiling lines. Would someone like to call Lassen High School's switch board with some sort of phony story about having tried to reach the band instructor prior to the new year and having missed him several times. Is he back in town yet? Something like that? If the old lady at the switchboard doesn't have a clue what you're talking about that's a good clue it's not him. If she says yes, she's sorry, he was in Brazil for a month and a half, bingo. Bag and tag him. He's in the cast. Seems a harmless enough story.

Anyways, if it is Lassen HS, looks like Carlin Hagen. carlin.hagen@lassenhigh.org 530-251-1241 I'd agree that just because this potential information source doesn't get how the game works, doesn't mean his casting info is wrong. (It might even be this season that the pre-jury boots take their little trip somewhere else in Brazil. It's a plenty big country, with plenty of large touristy sites where they wouldn't stand out, not like Gabon or Fiji.)
