I agree with Nothungry.
But mactors do tend to be very interesting sometimes cause regardless of the situation most of the mactors tend to put on a good show.One of my personal preferences is Amanda who was both annoying and interesting to watch but she still managed to play a good game even if the majority of happened to be luck.But mactors aren't deserving of being on the show because most of them watch their first episode of survivor only after being apporoached by a recruit.Let's just hope that the contestants for Tocantins were mostly fans who sent in applications cause with the show winding down there isnt much season left and there are millions of fans who want to play.Sorry for going off topic of the thread but besides that blondie there's no one really to discuss, the granola man doesnt really sound like a survivor contestant. |

Amanda was a huge Survivor freak, though. She loved the show and was an applicant. Just because someone is attractive does not make them a "mactor.

mean come on, right after I think Fans vs Fav she was acting in a movie called the reef..She is one of my fav players though but she still could be classified
as a mactor even if she watched the show

PrettyGoodYear is right about this one. When Amanda was a model in Italy she used to receive DVDs of the series from home and she watched every episode of every season. When she was approached to be on the show she was thrilled. I don't know of her ever being an Internet fan but she did describe herself as a 'Survivor geek' and an 'obsessive fan,' and after China she made some articulate comments in interviews about how past seasons influenced who she got rid of and who she aligned with (specifically in setting up Todd as her fall guy.) |

I think around here "mactor" is synonymous with "recruit." We're talking people like the casts of Cook Islands and Fiji who have never
seen the how before and just got recruited off MySpace or at some bar in LA. Amanda was a model and an aspiring actress (kind of like Jerri, actually), but
she definitely was also a fan of the show.

Is anyone else dreading the TV guide preview, hosted by BOB.I don't know, it could be awful, but he can be pretty amusing. He seemed freaked out at the live show, but comfortable enough in confessionals during the game. Instead of taping the host segments at the zoo like last season, I'm thinking they could go down the new england coast to some portuguese fishing town, and tape in some dockside bar, with Bob making obscure physics and lobstering jokes. |

Oldest trick in the book. If you want to completely devalue someone's opinion just laugh like it's the funniest thing you've ever heard. Look, man.
I'm not saying they haven't cast a lot of awful, bland, boring people who sucked at the game and added nothing to it. I'm not saying there
isn't a correlation. But the correlation isn't even with recruiting per se. It's with most of the people they've chosen to recruit. If they
want to recruit people like Bob, Kenny, Todd, James and Courtney (none of whom applied) I not only don't have a problem with it, I think it's a good
idea because none of those people would have applied on their own. There's a lot to be said for choosing a diverse group of people and the casting pool
isn't as diverse as it could be, from all I've heard and what I suspect. They just need to recruit people because they'd add something to the
dynamic of the cast, not because they'd look good in a bikini. They need to recruit them for diversity not for their sameness. As I pointed out they've
done some of that. They just need to keep doing it, and do more of it.

Nothungry- todd did apply, I can hardly imagine a superfan like himself not auditioning.Courtney we know for sure was a recruit.Bob wasnt a recruit either.
Where are you getting this from?He sent in an appliction and went to an audition and later he got called back.But I honestly rather see a die hard fan get on
the show than a mactor.That's all I was trying to say,better stop now cause the thread is completely off point now.
