superguppieIt sounds like you read a lot, you need to get the Kindle! I love the Kindle, that is where I am reading the Dexter books. They are on back order again this year, supposed to be getting more of them sometime in late February or so. They have gone down in price since I bought mine also. Check it out at Amazon.com, I think you would appreciate one. I love mine. |

I liked the Wordy Shipmates, which is her only book since Assassination Vacation. But I did wonder if she picked a topic close to New York so that she
wouldn't have to travel so much.

Just got:
The Turnaround by George Pelecanos (anything he writes is fucking brilliant) Cutting Edge by John Harvey (one of my favourite Brit writers of all time) The Ritual by Mo Hayden (another Brit. She is seriously disturbed <333) ::excited:: |

Zippy, I completely agree--I need to get a Kindle. I saw someone at a hotel pool with the Sony one as well, it's awesome!
JeFa: You are right. I thought the Partly Cloudy Patriot came after AV, but it was before. You don't think the quality of Sarah Vowell's writing seems to be very shaky? |

Well, it's considerably more entertaining than most historians' writing. And I'm actually pinching one of her Roger Williams quotations for
something I'm writing.
One thing that irritated me was her patriotism, however guilt-ridden. It's a problem most American historians have. |

Well, it's considerably more entertaining than most historians' writing. Cleo: What do you think of "Loving Frank"? I didn't like it all that much. I think that may be because I ended up disliking both FLW and Mamah by the middle of the book. I just wasn't rooting for them at all. Pfft. She's an amateur. I'd have put out a hit on James Frey and that would've been the END of that. |

Well Tony did have a writing class with Jill Lepore, after all lol
They're obviously competitors in a tiny market niche, but I guess I liked both books equally. |

He may have been an architectural genius but he wasn't much of a man.Total agreeance. Their self-absorption is staggering. |
